Robben Real Bound?

July 6th, 2006 | By: Mike | 11 Comments »

Could Arjen Robben be on his way to the Bernebeu? Everyone laughed when one of the last Madrid president claimed he would sign David Beckham and he did it. It is totally out of the question? To that question I would answer ‘No’. Is it likely though? Again I would say ‘No’. Mourinho knows what kind of a player Robben is and he can’t afford to let him go.

Well, this could be interesting, I think it was Jan who posted an interview where Robben allegedly stated that the love affair between him and Mourinho is over, apparently jose has criticized Robben for not playing through pain, regarding his multitude of injuries at Chelsea? And Robben expressed unhappiness at being benched every time he has a mediocre game. Sounds like he may not stay long, and for Robben, a trade now would probably mean a substaintial increase in salary on the other hand, Morinho, could earn alot in transfer fee for Robben at his peak. Seems like a win win situation?
Except, Morinho is always threatening to leave Chelsea. So does he want to do something for the future of Chelsea, or keep the winger and stacked line-up that has won him back to back Premiership titles.
Personally, I think he keeps Robben and continues to piss him off, wins some more titles and goes off somewhere else, maybe the Portuguese national team? He is reported to be a huge ego-maniac.
So i think what this article means is that Robben wants out, but Chelsea won’t let him go? Another case of the Portuguese cheating the dutch? (just kidding)

C. Ronaldo and Robben on the same team together? Is there a pool big enough for the two of them?

I’m an Arsenal fan and I really think that Robben would do better under Wenger than under Maurinho. Wenger believes in attacking, playing attractive soccer while Jose is defense which really doesn’t suit Robben’s talents.

No chance that Wenger and Maurinho will come to a deal, though. I think Wenger hates Maurinho more than he hated Ferguson and Jose has made it clear that the feeling is reciprocated.

i would luvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv to see robben playing in the ‘liga’. matches in spanish league are so offensive and defnders give the offense so much space, a player like robben can express himself on the maximum. and wouldn’t it be nice to have robben on one side and frank rijkaard on the other:)?

I’ve been following this story for personal interest for almost a week. I found that Robben’s contract with Chelsea is for 12M pounds for 5 years, 2 years ago. If Real really want him, they will buy him. Especially considering they want to get rid of a few players.
So, the only facts that we know of that prevent Real from signing Robben are:
If Real want to buy out his contract with Chelsea (aka if they think he’s worth that much plus whatever they would pay him)
and
If Robben would want to play for Real.
I think it’s safe to assume that he would want to play for them, as it is a pretty big club.
So, I think we will get developments in a few days/a week, since Robben is on holidays.
Assuming he does play for them, he would be battling for Left Wing with Robinho (assuming they keep him).

Wow, I really want to see him signed to Real.

Chelsea recently stated that they will approach the FIFA or UEFA formally for an investigation into Real Madrid’s approaching Robben. According to the rules, a club can’t approach a player (Robben) without notifying the player’s club. And they wre adament: we don’t want to sell Robben. Ever. Against no price. To no one. Or something like that. Chelsea could be playung hardball to up the price, obviously…

No No No

But I think the truth is Robben be tired of playing for Chelsea.

Real may be a good choice for him to play and then He do it.

From what I’ve heard, it was the new appointed coach Capello who would have meet Chelsea’s owner (that rich russian, Abramvich or whatever) at a game at the WC. He would of asked if Chelsea would sell Robben, to which the Russian didn’t say no, something along those lines.

but i would’ve prefered to see him playing for barcelona. barca has always been a good club for dutch players, and they don’t have too many big names as real. in real it is dangerous because if you don’t play perfect always, then you lose your spot.
