Robben and Van Persie: creative minds

June 10th, 2006 | By: Jan | No Comments »

There are the passionate ones, and then there’s the very passionate ones. The latter love the game just a tad more. You see it in their eyes, and the way the fondle the ball. “Give me a ball and a green pitch and I am happy”, said Robben once. And van Persie: “I usually stay on the pitch after the training is over for an hour or more…”.
Robben:” Marco once told me I could be the best in the world. And when he told me that, I was playing fantastic football. But later on, my form diminished. To me, it’s not a form of pressure when someone like van Basten says that. It’s a compliment. Nothing more. And obviously, I know I will have to do a lot more to actually become the best.” Van Persie: “People have high expectations of us, this WC. That’s fine. I don’t think about it. I think, that if you read everyting and if you take everything too serious, it will become a problem. I feel great, at the moment. Although we are together now for some weeks, the fun and excitement is still there. And we train good, which helps a lot. We all enjoy ourselves and really, that has nothing to do with wether you’re part of the starting line-up or not.
