Rita, are you listening?
We are all sure that our own teams are fully capable of winning the World Cup. But we can all admit at one point or another in our darkest hour coveting another country’s player. We’ve all done it. It’s okay.
Let’s imagine that for one day immigration minister Rita Verdonk agreed to sign any passport for a foreign footballer based on those bizarre cultural ground rules. Who would be the first person you’d put in line at the immigration office and why? Now, in an attempt to stop this from becoming a “dream team” question I’ll limit you to one person and an alternate. One more restriction, avoid Ronaldinho. What country wouldn’t love him? But would he fit or be surplus?
Just think, what area would you want to improve? Where are the Dutch weakest?
My choice? I’d choose Nemanja Vidic from group-mates Serbia and Montenegro and then John Terry as my alternate. Both would add a lot of quality and strength to a young and inexperienced Dutch back four.

For some reason I was never sure of Nesta. Not a bad choice though.

jimmy beat me to it, I was also thinking about Nesta. At the back, my all-time fav. is Maldini, but he is not a “current” player so Nesta is my choice.
