Remember, remember
I won’t beat around the bush. The idea and possibility of revenge has me licking my lips. Euro 2004 was not a great tournament for the Dutch. They accidentally qualified for the quarters and managed to make it to the semis some how without ever looking like a winning squad. Now here we are and the team is young, excited and disciplined beyond anything we saw in Portugal ‘04.
That thought of pride and happiness has spurred me to ask another question. How do you celebrate or “represent” your team? On match days do you do anything special? Do you have special articles of clothing or kits that you wear?
For me, I always wear my Overmars #11 when I can and if I can’t (due to work obligations) I wear some sort of t-shirt. I’ve got the flag on my car, a doo-hicky hanging from my rear-view mirror and NED sticker on my bumper. Can anyone beat that?

I am dutch, although not born there. I wear my retro 1974 warm up jacket, my Heineken tall hat that I got in schipol airport during Euro 2000. I also bring my dutch flag to whatever bar I watch it at. I have an NL sticker on my bumper.

I have an NL on my car, wear my Dutch flag and one of a collection of Dutch jerseys either at home (where I too have to watch alone because I give my family the fits when I start screaming when either something goes right or wrong) and frequently venture into my favorite soccer bar to bother them. Oddly, I was one of only two Dutch supporters there during the IC game - and there were a lot of IC fans. All the hollering I did I suppose I was lucky to have not gotten my arse kicked.
