Real Madrid almost through

November 6th, 2007 | By: Jan | 4 Comments »

Real Madrid drew 0-0 against Olympiakus Piraeus in a match inwhich the Dutch contingent of the Merenguez forgot to score. Ruud van Nistelrooy had the best opportunity after a sharp through-pass from Sneijder, but the Dutch recordscorer hit the cross-bar with his lob. Wesley Sneijder undertook four attempts at goal but had to bow for the Olympiakos goalie. Despite the scoreline, Real did good business in their group and leads with eight points.

Ronald Koeman had a dreadful start with Valencia in the CL. In the home game against Rosenborg EK, Koeman’s new team lost 0-2. Iversen was judge and hangman for Valencia. Valencia is now last in their group (with Chelsea and Schalke being the other two teams).

I don’t see why van nistelrooij tried the chip, he had enough room to just round the keeper and slot it.

@dirk; its cause the ball bounced…he didnt have time to wait for the bounce to come down and control the ball.. a chip was the only thing left to do

Sneijder was playing really well, in the absence of guti (who i think he clicks really well with). I expected him to get a goal, if not an assist or two.
