Ready…Steady…

How are those pins and needles feeling? Frankly, mine are starting to itch.

Less than a day to go before the whole she-bang gets under way. Edwin van der Sar thinks the Dutch are absolutely ready after today’s training session. Robben appears to be back on form and even has van Basten smiling, according to the article. van Basten is trying to play down the hype but after their first victory on Sunday the whole world will stand in awe of the all conquering Oranje tidal wave that will sweep across Germany, flattening all in the process. (A little over the top maybe? Nah, I’m bloody excited is all.)

Just look at me…all wide eyed with excitement. Actually I look downright petrified wouldn’t you say? Make no mistake though I’m fully confident in the team’s capabilities while keeping in mind that this team is meant to conquier the world the next time around and anything that comes of this tournament is so much the better. Who am I kidding…..C’mon you Dutch!! Win the whole bleeding thing and wave it in front of the Italians and Germans, oh and don’t forget the Portuguese.

Ya, that last bit was definately over the top.

@mike
thank you for this article about the team man, i liked too much.
especially when they talk about robben and his dribblings that are the same as 2 years ago. if this young guy is going to play as he knows, we will be fine, for me when he decides to play, i just think he is the best player in the world not henry or ronaldinho.
and i liked when they talked about passing the ball to the wingers and how they have to best immediately.
well, actually this article gets me very excited. it would be so nice to see the orange color standing in july 9th.am in love with this team.
come on guys come on.
go holland go

Excellent Article. I wish I could be sitting right there on the stands watching the training..

@Alaa
Robben has shown hints of his magic, maybe he knows by now how to turn it on when it really matters?

Pins and needles are itching for sure.

I have a feeling it’s going to be a slow start.. Could be a very though group to get out off.

But, if Holland get anywhere near the quarter finals I think they will go all the way and win it. This team has the determination and group spirit that the others have lacked..

btw, Mike. how’s “pijntjes”, that delightful little Dutch dog of yours? :)

That article really made my day. Seeing Holland is fit and ready like this for the WC, I think we have a lot of potential to go far. I would really have liked to see this training, especially if Robben is performing well. He’s the name & number I have on my home shirt, so I will definatley cheer him on as well as the rest of the team!

@Mike: This is a great blog, keep it up man!

Robben has the potential to be a game breaker in this Cup. Taking him out against the Czechs still has to be one of the legendary stupid moves of Advokaat’s career. WTF was he thinking?

It’s interesting to ask what pairing works best for him and Van N: van Persie, Kujt or Van de Vaart?

My two cents: sub ‘em in. Plan to make two subs with 30 minutes to go. Their hungry and fresh legs are crucial in creating openings in the last bit of a match
