Quincy: one day fly…
Column in AD.
The press chef of Spartak Moscow doesn’t now it anymore either. Yes, yes, Quincy Owusu-Abeyie is still a contract player at Spartak. No no, I don’t know more about this…

There was a day when the whole of the nation was desperately in love with Quincy. A beautiful summer night in Kerkrade, where he dribbled past a doxen Japanese football players. It was the youth WC of 2005. THe ones who were there witnessed a miracle. The birth of a superstar.
Aad de Mos was co-commentating the game. This quick, this good…it was not possible. Quincy was a whirlwind on football shoes. And Aad tried to play it down a bit.
Two years ago, I spoke to Quincy for the last time. A humungous watch around his wrist. All diamonds. Quincy told me he highly enjoyed himself in Moscow. He was a benchwarmer and the winters were cold, but… Spartak was a warm club.
Not long after, they rented him out. First Celta de Vigo, then Birmingham City and after that Cardiff City. Many clubs. No games.
This summer, he tested for Bristol City. For a week. They didn’t recognize the miracle man, really. They signed Evander Sno. And said no to Quincy.
Quincy is back in Moscow now. With jersey number 55. And that’s not that bad, since Spartak has 59 players under contract. It’s a warm club.
We don’t have to pity Quincy, he made the choice to go for the big money. But, it still a bit of a waste. So much talent. He may not have been a miracle, but he sure could play football.

Seems like a good athlete, strong on the ball and really quick, could probably play any sport he wants.

Getting released after a decade training with your home club for your bad attitude says it all this guy.

Maybe that’s where Sno and Drenthe learned to decide to keep the Oranje bus waiting while they were buying fake watches in China.
What’s up with the big watches? Used to be cars, now it seems to be watches? How about just calling a spade a spade and admit you have a very small penis?

I remember watching him at the u-20 world cup in Kerkrade and at the De Vijverberg (De Graafschap stadium). I saw the matches vs chile and the sad game vs nigeria when there were about 30 pks to decide the game. I remember telling my brother that he will be one of the best wingers in the world. He was so skillful and fast. Every time he touched the ball the whole stadium would get to their feet. He was just that exhilarating.

lol Finnster, I knew you’d come back to the infamous ‘watch’ incident in China! But I think Quincy is a very good example of the type of attitude to not have if you want to succeed in football. Hope other ‘watch’ type players take notice.

O Finn, the spade is a spade with a small penis!!!!
That is the comment of the Decade
.
You don’t go into the Hall of Fame, you own it, mister!
