Questions for Bert van Marwijk!

Bert is secretly thinking: “I told them I want the cup, but I won’t tell them I have it here already…
Dudes,
Oranje will come to Australia and your humble servant will attend the match (with Carlos and I hope with some more fans from the region).
I’m currently trying to get the KNVB press people to accept us in the press conference and hopefully I can get them to pass some questions on to Mr Bert van Marwijk…
I’m offering you the opportunity to add your questions. I’ll make a short list (can’t do 400 questions) and will try – I said TRY – to get through to him…
1. Why don’t you feel it’s time to look seriously at preparing replacements for Gio and Ooijer?
2. Do we need to play 4-2-3-1 religiously? Or do you see it as an option to play 4-3-3 when we play, for instance, Brazil?
3. Could you name the most important positives and the most important negatives you’ve witnessed during the qualifications games?
4. Why did Loovens have to go to the stands for the Scotland game? Did he fail against Japan?
5. Is it true that there are some disciplinary issues with Wesley Sneijder?
6. Could you elaborate about the team building aspects of Oranje and the behaviour in the dressing room regarding the players’ relationships?
7. Would it be an option to move Sneijder back to the holding position?
8. What did you have for dinner yesterday?
Here’s some previews on Bert’s responses….

Bert reacts flabbergasted on some of our questions…

“I can dance the horlepiep while kicking a ball…tralalalalalaaaalaa….”

“I almost have Edwin and Ruud back, now I’ll silently pray for Jaap Stam….”

“No no, I’m convinced South Africa is in that direction!”

“Now who is that bloke with the Indian accent in the stands constantly yelling “Castelen”??”

“Ok Mr Kesler, I’m gonna explain offside one more time… Now, you are offside when the ball is played, while…”

Bert thinking: “Ok… I’m gonna sit here and make believe that moron next to me is not there. I won’t look at him, I’ll just stare straight ahead. Easy as she goes… Just don’t look at him….”

De Jong started for Man Citeh against a very B-side Fulham. 1-1 going into extra time (Carling Cup). De Jong has been solid, not spectacular, but a good game perhaps not against the best of opposition. He also looked like he got a knock, but he is still playing. Anyway going into extra time as wee speak.

Just as I said that, De Jong got subbed…after 90 mins. Don’t know if he is injured.

Raf not selected for Australia game….this is prelimenary squad.
Ibrahim Afellay (PSV), Ryan Babel (Liverpool), Edson Braafheid (Bayern München), Giovanni van Bronckhorst (Feyenoord), Eljero Elia (HSV), Orlando Engelaar (PSV), John Heitinga (Everton), Klaas Jan Huntelaar (AC Milan), Nigel de Jong (Manchester City), Dirk Kuyt (Liverpool), Glenn Loovens (Celtic), Joris Mathijsen (HSV), David Mendes da Silva (AZ), André Ooijer (PSV), Robin van Persie (Arsenal), Arjen Robben (Bayern München), Stijn Schaars (AZ), Wesley Sneijder (Inter), Maarten Stekelenburg (Ajax), Piet Velthuizen (Vitesse), Michel Vorm (FC Utrecht), Gregory van der Wiel (Ajax) en Demy de Zeeuw (Ajax).

Where is Castelen

babel velthuizen engelaar and maybe mendez are the ones who could be cut.
lets hope loovens doesn’t.
personally i think van der vaart will go to the world cup no matter what. I think this is just a meesage from van marwijk.
honestly what would the point of bringing engelaar or mendez da silva? right now i would rather van der vaart start for us than some of these guys.
this is just trying to get him to switch teams, what do you guys think?

I also think it’s best for Raf to spend time at Madrid and get his position in the dressing room hierarchy, by training and spending time and rubbing shoulders with the power players. Bert knows what Raf can do. No need for him in Australia. I do hope Bert brings Sylvie, though

I dont think Velthuizen should be cut. He’s one of the most promising Dutch keepers, and there’s no one better to replace him as third keeper….

@Lerkot
or c)we don’t got a chance if we have penalty shoot-out in a knockout game.

well , just as i expected .. van der vaart is out of the squad !
huntelaar was on the bench again today , sneijder played another poor game actually though he assisted the third goal but he wasn’t convincing
seedorf is the best dutch midfielder now , and it would be completely unfair no to call him
emanuelson is better than gio
vlaar is better than ooijer
a benched van der vaart is better than engelaar and DA Silva ( no doubt )

If it is a 23 men squad Velthuizen wont get the cut…i think at present we are blessed with three superb goal keepers(I rate them same, everybody has their own strength and weakness)and we need consistant better performance not experience..
Will babel get the nod over Afaleey??????????
What is this Englaar is doing in PSV?and why Englaar?Castlen is playing superbly in hamburg and this club is much better than any dutch club now….

Castelen is a winger. Engelaar is a holding midfielder. Castelen an artist. Engelaar is a workhorse. They’re simply different players.
Afellay is struggling with his health. Babel sure is rested well
.
I don’t think Bert will call on Clarence if he feels he has Wes, Raf and Van Bommel back on the WC.

@jan dont misunderstand me….Castelen is in much better shape than afaleey and babel now…Moreover castelen has proved his name in orange.he never disappointed us.(Only one neagtive mark is he is just 1.70m tall.)i cannt understand with van bommel, schars,de jong,Da silva and de saaw….what is he doing with Englaar????this is what my question.

Leonardo talked about Huntelaar in the Italian media. “Huntelaar needs some time. His summer was hectic, when he came here he was suspended and then needed to play with the Dutch team. It’s not easy to find your spot in a new team like that, but I have all the confidence in him. Every one knows he can score goals. But, Italian football is different and we need him to move around more. He’s played in 4-3-3 systems always hunting (…) in the box, he will need to adapt a bit and that takes time.”

if the following players are fit..
Dear BVM Plz select this team
First eleven——————Second eleven
RUUD VAN NESTELROOY—– KLASS JAN HANTLAAR
ROBIN VANPERSIE——— ELJARO ELIA
DIRK KUYT————— RAFEL VANDER VAART?
ARJEN ROBAN————- ROMEO CASTELEN
WESLY ZNIJDER———– STIJN SCHAARS
NIJEL DE JONG———– MARK VAN BOMMEL?
WILFRED BAUMA———– EDSON BRAPHEID
JORIS MATHIJENSON——- GLENN LOOVENS
JOHNY HEITINGA———- RON VLAAR?
GREGERY VAN DER WEIL—- KHALID BULAHRUZ
MARTYN STEKELENBURG—– PEIT VELTHUIZEN/VORM
——————-MICHEL VORM/VELTHUIZEN——————
Substitute Nestel,After 55 minutes and give Vanpersie the main striker role and put Elia in the left and shift roban to right and kuyt to the mid.coz kuyt can hold the ball up front and he can supply the ball to RVP.Rest of the susbtitution should be based on according to the situations.
Symbol”?”–indicates my fear about those players.ie i am not fully convinced of these players or in otherwords they are the weak links in the team in donig their duties as of now.

Ah, gotcha… Good question then… Not sure. Engelaar does have length. And Mendes doesn’t seem to be Oranje material at the moment. So, no idea…

Well done Tiju…. Looks like two pretty good sides actually…

I have never seen Engelaar use his height as an advantage, he should be marking the tallest guy in defence and create havoc (like Crouch/Toni/Venegoor/that Czech tower?) in attack. But he doesn’t ???

@Carlos; why are you comparing Engelaar with strikers?? Engelaar is a defense midfielder….and a crap one btw.
but hes just good enough for the dutch league
big news that vdVaart is out of the squad…im sure hell be desperate to find a new team in the following transfer window…he made the wrong choice to stay at Madrid… but i like it that vMarwijk made a choice and made it clear for all others what the deal is

Castaingacos (??), the 16 year old Feyenoord striker, is part of Feyenoord selection that plays for the national cup tonight against some amateur team.

@Jeroen: “nearly completely gone” is still not “completely gone”
But of course, it will be completely gone soon probably. But it should mean that right now we can’t expect top play from him. And that could mean he could get little playing time for a while (at least the big games, which are the best games for getting ready for a WC).
But at least Aston Villa isn’t soo crowded with superstars like Real Madrid and he should still be in a better position than RvN for getting ready for the WC.

Good questions Jan, you pretty much recapped our conversations on this blog for the last year or so… and I love the captions, haha
