PSV seems ready for next season
PSV is almost ready for the new season. Stan Valcks and General Manager Jan Reker had high hopes for Mexican talent Jose Guardado, but it seems the youngster will make a move to Deportivo in Spain. Ajax player Kenneth Perez on the other hand, will make the move to PSV.
The Danish international was almost the victim of the rivalry between Ajax and PSV. Henk ten Cate, Ajax-coach, didn’t want to see the skilled left winger move to Eindhoven but as there are no alternatives left, Ajax decided to give in.
PSV just didn’t want to pay the exorbitant price for Perez. Reker: “I am no fool. I won’t let Ajax fool me. If the transfer is blocked, I can tell you things about Ajax way of working that they won’t appreciate.”
Reker also said the bottom of the piggy-bank at PSV is in sight. The financial situation in Eindhoven can’t be called Hunky Dory.
Reker doesn’t seem to be fazed by Feyenoord’s spending. “Ah come on…that’s borrowed money. They will have to pay back one day.”
PSV wasn’t as active on the transfer front as normal. Danko Lazovic – former Feyenoord and Vitesse player – is regarded to be the most important signing. PSV also signed Mike Zonneveld (former NEC and NAC player; once a exciting new talent but broke his leg severely and lost some years), Tommy van der Leegte (veteran for the Cocu position)
Huge talents Ismail Aissati and Otman Bakkal (both part of the U21 squad) are back in Eindhoven after being rented out to FC Twente.
Defender and man-rock Alex has not come to an agreement with Chelsea yet. Koeman and co. still hope for the Brazilian to stay with PSV for another year.
