PSV gets cheap victory in UEFA cup; 2-0

February 13th, 2008 | By: Jan | 2 Comments »

PSV beat the disappointing Helsingsborgs IF with two cheap goals, 2-0. PSV didn’t want to give anything away against Henke Larsson. In reality, PSV was in control and only allowed the Swedes a couple of chances in the first phase of the match. Man of the match was young defender Dirk Marcellis who kept Larsson in the dark.

PSV got a cheap lead. Lazovic tumbled in a duel with goalie Andersson and got a penalty kick. Timmy Simons scored, 1-0.

Afellay got a couple of chances to score more goals, but he failed and hit the post once. Andersson couldn’t control one of Afellay’s shots, allowing Lazovic to score an easy 2-0.

PSV controlled after that and Helsingsborgs wasn’t able to fight back. This result gives PSV a good perspective on the next round. Helsingsborgs will need to score twice next week to at least get extra time against the Dutch champs.

Yeah… it was expected though… Sweden is in its pre-season and PSV is in the mid, its not so surprising. Helsingborg had two debutants in the back so I didnt expect else.
