Oranje ready for Elia and vice versa

Elia, Schaars and Van Marwijk at training…

Eljero Elia is looking forward to a peak week. The Twente talent is part of Oranje’s pre-selection and is likely to be picked for the definite group as Afellay’s replacement. The PSV player is recovering from injury and might not be fit in time for the Iceland and Norway clashes.

Elia was in a good mood in the Hoenderloo forest. Within days he’ll announce which big European club will be his next station on the way to the top. Martin Jol’s HSV has the best papers for now, but there’s a number of Premier League teams interested as well.

De voorlopige selectie van het Nederlands elftal:
The WC qualifications of June 6 against Iceland and June 10 against Norway are four weeks after clubs like Ajax, PSV and AZ played their last competition games.

To stay fit, Van Marwijk organized special training sessions for the Dutch internationals and some wannabe’s. More internationals will come on board in next week’s session.

Van Marwijk would loved to have seen all his players active till far into May. “But in Holland we have that play off phenomenon. I’m not a fan, as most people know. I’d rather see the normal competition go far into May. The Spanish competition ends end off May and that is just perfect for our games in June.”

For Elia, Nordin Amrabat (PSV) and Rob Wielaert (Ajax) this training session in orange is a first. Amrabat and Wielaert are told they can consider this a serious signal. “They’re close to the real Oranje. I use these days to scrutinize them up close and personal.”

Some players already had a vacation. Ajax defender Van der Wiel spent his time off in Barcelona while Schaars, Mendes da Silva and De Zeeuw learned that their club AZ appointed Ronald Koeman as their new coach. “A logical choice,” Schaars said. “Koeman speaks Spanish, which is important for some players, he knows top football, coached teams in the Champions League and he is result oriented. Co Adriaanse and Louis van Gaal have developed us. Now the time has come to use all those lessons and turn them into silverware. With Koeman, AZ will enter a new phase.”

Inter Milan is making a play for Sneijder.

Robben declared he doesn’t want to leave Real. Sneijder said the same thing. “I feel great here and want to revenge this dreadful season”.

Feyenoord mistreated the group of new investors who walked away. The future looks bleak in Rotterdam.

Van Gaal has won the Coach of the Year trophee.

Van Persie will have his wisdom teeth taken out in a crash operation in Paris next week. According to naturopaths, his wisdom teeth could be the reason for his weak physical state and vulnerability.

Robben is now researching circumcision, since his wisdom teeth are out already…

“Whats that useless piece of skin attached to a willy ?”

Oh, I’d hate that!

Afellay pulled back from Oranje due to injuries. Elia will be most certainly his replacement. I think Babel needs to worry too with the Twente man on fire.

Arnautovic said to sign for Chelsea.

Re: rumor that RVN going to Galatasaray. It is, as they say, the silly season for rumors, and this does kind of make you shake your head. But if it happens, then I’d say he is serious about being available for Oranje. Gala isn’t going to spend that kind of money to have him sit on the bench. He plays every day, stays sharp, gets a CL action…and he’s ready to go next summer. Remember, his form just before the injury was terrific.

Nah, I don’t buy that rumour about Ruud going to Galatasaray. Besides, it came from goal.com, probably the least reliable of any ‘news’ source (news in quotation marks for a reason). In the summer months, goal.com plain out makes up transfer story after transfer story.
