Oranje opts for Johannesburg

The KNVB has chosen Johannesburg as the venue for Oranje at the WC 2010.
Henk Kesler obviously knows that Oranje will still have to qualify, but the Dutch federation sent a mission to South Africa to prepare for Oranje’s expected participation. Johannesburg, a city with a lot of crime, was picked over Kaapstad and Stellenbosch due to it’s altitude.
“It’s easy to reach all the venues for the WC from Johannesburg,” Kesler told the press,”and it’s situated a 1700 meter, which offers us some training advantages. The enthusiasme is definitely there already and we have been informed about the planned Oranje-campings. Normally, I guess some 5 to 10.000 fans will travel to South Africa.”

With Hunter out perhaps Bert may put RvP up front
then Kuyt Sneider vdV for the game next week.
The rest doesnt really matter does it ? Babel on for one half ? Affelay too?
What do you guys think ?

That’s funny. Picked because of it’s altitude…What’s wrong staying home doing high altitude training until the last minute in the Dutch Alps
Seriously, I bet they will wear themselves out. End of a long gruelling club season in Europe, and then lets run ourselves into the ground in high altitude for a bit. Not sure if the bonus effects of high altitude training kicks in that fast anyway. Thournament begins around June 11.
With the Oranje history of killing each other in pre-tournament training, I can see this becoming a real mess yet again. No way Robben and Babel will survive this.

Hey people!
KNVB already selecting the HQ for 2010? Well, I hope just they don’t make Johannesburg’s camp a mess. But they’ll do. As Finnster said, there’s no way. Robben, Babel, Robin… and I would add Wesley, why not?
And the first Oranje-B call-up? What are your thoughts about it? I think, though it’s too much similar to the Olympic one, that’s good enough. I like Schaars and Erwin Mulder (good goalie!).
