Only Makaay is allowed to leave Feyenoord

Heracles Almelo may have lost the game against Feyenoord last weekend, Heracles coach Verbeek must have felt a little victorious when he saw his rebels on the bench. Roy Makaay, Kevin Hofland, Tim DeCler and Denny Landzaat are no longer the number one choice for new Feyenoord coach Mario Been. “I wanted more movement upfront and chose Tomasson as deep striker.”

The only “older” player who can count on playing time now is Gio van Bronckhorst. As left back. Been’s holding midfielders are El Ahmadi and youngster Leroy Fer. Ron Vlaar and Bahia are the centerbacks, which means that the big name – and big salary – players who came to save Feyenoord two years back are relegated to a supporting role.

Right after the game, uber-manager Rob Jansen came to De Kuip to discuss the future of his players. An interesting detail: Rob Jansen also manages Mario Been’s and Leo Beenhakker’s careers.

In the meeting with Jansen, Been and Beenhakker were clear. De Cler and Hofland are not supposed to leave the club. They may not be starters, but they will be needed this season. Last year, Been named Tim De Cler “the best left back of the country” while the vulnerability of Ron Vlaar is too much for Been to allow Hofland to leave.

It’s different for Makaay, however. The official statement is, that Roy Makaay is also not allowed to leave. But… Been: “I think that it’s not fair to have a player with his reputation and history on the bench. So, if he wants to leave and a club is willing to sign him, I won’t stop him.” This does sound like a nice gesture to Makaay, but since the former Oranje and Bayern Munich striker is one of the highest paid players in Holland, there’s also a bit of self-interest involved.

General Manager Gudde emphasized that financial reasons do not steer these discussions. “It’s simple maths, if these players leave, Feyenoord’s financial position will improve by the week. But Mario Been is not signed to take care of our financial issues. He decides purely on football technical grounds.”

There doesn’t seem to be much future for Landzaat however. Landzaat is managed by Sigi Lens, who will talk with Feyenoord next week. Lens: “I don’t know what to expect, but Feyenoord invited me, so I think it’s pretty clear.”

Feyenoord has a number of players able to play holding midfielder: Fer, El Ahmadi, Van Bronckhorst, Wijnaldum and even De Guzman. Landzaat doesn’t want to bulge. Lens: “Denny is fighting for his chances and he wants to stay. Feyenoord asked him to come and he quit his deal with Wigan. He never begged for a contract here. But, it’s a opportunistic world, we all know that. Look at what’s happening in Madrid. Or with Manchester City. Or even at Ajax. When a new coach arrives, you know things will change. At Ajax, they have 12 players they want to sell…”

*sneijder out of madrid squad for tonight’s game against dortmund and told to leave . that is actually better for the netherlands elfat as we will only have robben fighting for his place in madrid (hope that he will play : sneijder is out so kaka could be placed in the middle and robben would get the left wing position); and probably van nistelrooy (if he doesn’t quit his hopes for a wc place are over as he will never play because they already have benzema and higuain and raul. drenthe ,if he keeps his position (we will see against dortmund ) would be a very interesting option for orange
*i think the friendly against japan will be the occasion for LOOOVENS and ELIA TO SHOW THAT THEY DESERVE A STARTING POSITION FOR HOLLAND
*PERSIE YESTERDAY PLAYED AND WILL CONTINUE TO PLAY FOR ARSENAL IN THE POSITION OF CENTRAL STRIKER , KUYT PLAYS FOR LIVERPOOL ON THE RIGHT SO THE ATTACK OF HOLLAND MUST BE:
robben(or kuyt) vaart elia
robin van persie

@fares, thanks my friend for all your posts , but there are some points i want to say :
1. Pieters is not mature enough to play for the oranje , the same for leroy fer .
2. Wijnaldum is the new dutch hope , this guy will be the new ronaldinho , i want to see him in oranje . De guzman and bissiswar are also excellent players .
3.loovens and vlaar must be selected in the dutch squad
4.ron stam is very good , he can be our RB in the WC , heitinga can play as CB .
5. Persie was too bad as a central striker , may be he needs time , but till he get used to this role , he can’t be our central striker
6. Schaars is an excellent player , he is even better than de zeeuw , da silva and afellay , i think it is not fair to say he is a bad player just cuz he didn’t do well against england .
7. I want to see seedorf back in oranje !!

Mohamed. Seedorf will never return. He just hasn’t performed for Holland. Besides, I don’t think he is even playing for Milan right now.

@Bart , you’re right Bart , seedorf won’t play for the oranje again . I know that . But to be honest , we need him in the team . I mean he is definitely better than de zeeuw , engelaar and da silva who are already selected . He is verstile and experienced player , can play as playmaker , LMF and sometimes he plays as a DMF when pirlo is injured . Just think about the dutch midfield with these names :
bommel , seedorf , vdv , sneijder , de jong , schaars and de guzman instead of de zeeuw , da silva , engelaar and afellay .
Btw , i am too worried about vaart , there is no news about his move from madrid at all !

I’d still put Krul and Vermeer ahead of Vorm and Velthuizen…they need to exercise their potential on a national level.

Word is, Vermeer is NOT going to extend his contract.
