Old & New

With Thierry Henry moving to Barcelona, the transfer treadmill has really started. It’s common knowledge that Arsene Wenger is a fan of Ryan Babel, but the European Champ stated that should Arsenal officially approach him, he’ll say no. “I know Wenger likes me as a player and I definitely would like to play for the Gunners, but not yet. It’s too early. I’ll play for Ajax next season.”

An old gun is doing really well. Ronald de Boer is still active in Qatar and he is loving it. “I’ll play for another season. Life here is wonderful. We really like it. So maybe after my last season I’ll hang around here. There are some potential offers in the pipeline, from coaching to analysis work on tv. I’ll see what I will do…”

FC Nurnberg wants Danny Koevermans. Officially, AZ wants to keep the Koev, but with new signing Brazilian Ari it seems that Danny K. will be the fourth player in line for the two central striker positions. Nurnberg offers 3 Mio Euros for the 28 year old. Feyenoord is also interested to sign Koevermans, who made his way into professional football via Sparta Rotterdam.

Barca also set it’s sights on AS Roma defender and former Ajax player Christian Chivu. He would make the third signing after Toure and Henry. Earlier on, Inter Milan presented Chivu as their new signing but it seems the Rumanian captain has not yet decided upon his future.
