Nigel de Jong best paid Dutch football player

nigel

Since quite some time it’s relatively unknown Dutch sporters who top the list of best-buffalo hunters. Rik Smits was the best paid Dutch athlete for a while (Basketball) and Andruw Jones is the current top grabber. The Chicago White Sox baseball player won’t be adorning many a boys’ bedroom in Holland. He did have a bad year though. He made 17 Mio euros last year, and now only 10 mio.

The number 2 on the list is well-known, because that’s a football player. But no, it’s not Van Persie, Robben or Sneijder. The best paid Dutch player is one Nigel de Jong, who makes 8.1 mio euros a year ( what?? 675.000 euros per month…. 168.750 euros per week…. 24.000 euros per day….. 3.000 euros per working hour…. 50 euros per minute….).

If the Blog Gods start paying me like this, I would have made 300 euros already, typing this. Oops, 350… No, 400… Anyway, you get the picture.

De Jong only made 2.9 mio euros at Hamburg and jumped from the 16th position to the 2nd position thanks to his move to Man City. Another climber on the Top 100 list is skater Sven Kramer. He made 1.225.000 euros in 2009. Not bad.

There’s mostly football players in the top 100. Only 17 other athletes made the list. Four of them are horse-sportspeople ( I don’t even know the term for them… equestrians??). The number 100 is Irene Wust, the skate-woman, and she made a measly 430.000 euros.

The Top 10

1 (1) Andruw Jones (baseball) 10.100.000 euro
2 (16) Nigel de Jong (voetbal) 8.100.000
3 (2) Ruud van Nistelrooy (voetbal) 7.500.000
4 (6) Arjen Robben (voetbal) 7.000.000
5 (3) Edwin van der Sar (voetbal) 5.800.000
6 (11) Robin van Persie (voetbal) 5.200.000
7 (7) Clarence Seedorf (voetbal) 5.100.000
8 (20) Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (voetbal) 5.000.000
9 (8) Wesley Sneijder (voetbal) 4.900.000
10 (10) Dirk Kuyt (voetbal) 4.600.000

Let’s have a big discussion again how sad it is for Klaas Jan that he doesn’t play more, ok?

Final invoice to Blog Gods: 1.250 euro.

Let’s just imagine how much would make Robben playing for Manchester City. I remember Winston Bogarde saying “It doesn’t matter if I am on the bench, it’s important that I get my money” (it was during his time at Chelsea).

Seedorf is going to be benched for the match against MU, for his poor performances in last matches… Well, before Milan was the right place for Dutch players, now it’s the right place for brasilians, with their “SUERTACTICIAN” Leonardo. Really sad…

Just a note on the new kit, kinda reminds me of the 98 kit, maybe we’re hoping for a bit of that team to rub off on this new one.

Just to prove my point, Man Utd, and Real are interested in Benfica’s centre back David Luiz. Bencifa apparently has a transferclause of 50 million for him, but will talk from 18 million and up, now i’m guessing that means they’ll sell from everywhere between 20-25 million. Haven’t seen PSV sell any defensive players for that kind of money, Alex was topclass, but they rented him, so they got zero for him. I’m telling you, if a player like Luiz, that played in a not so convincing Benfica side can be worth that much, Vlaar is surely worth at least 15 million in my book. although I find the transfersums ridiculously high these days.

@ Jeroen

Is the away kit an official one…argghhhh. Who approved this, looks so like the disgusting ManU kits this season…But then, no other option with us than to support those who would wear this.

I would just like to see us play in orange all the time.
Anyone else here ever spell orange, oranje by accident?

Eljero Elia is frustrated at playing right wing.

I will watch the Milan game and let you know about Huntelaar and hopefully post online links

@Agragami: You are absolutely right about the ugly Man U kits. In particular, I find EVDS extremely funny looking in his yellow shirt.

He looks like a wasp or bumblebee
