News flashes from Holland…
Marco has learned from the past. AZ-player Demy de Zeeuw - who expressed his displeasure with Oranje and the way van Basten treated him - has been invited by the Dutch team manager to talk about it…
And they have. “It was a positive meeting, a good talk. I felt good about it. If van Basten calls on me for the Romania match, I will come…” according to de Zeeuw…
And KJ Huntelaar scored again. After being “out of form” for some time, he scored three times against FC Twente securing the 2nd place in Dutch league. After the match, Huntelaar exclaimed: “Apparently, I am in form again”…
PSV Eindhoven was sloppy against Excelsior Rotterdam and didn’t just lose a point in the 0-0 draw, but also have to miss giant defender Alex for the rest of the season. He pulled a hamstring. In Liverpool. they enjoyed another drink after hearing this news…
Bayern Munich wants HSV midfielder Rafael van der Vaart. Der Franz is very impressed with the former Ajax midfielder. “Rafael has it all. He is creative, he can score, he can lead and he works for the team. We want him, but…HSV will not let him off lightly.” Rafael van der Vaart - uptil now - has always expressed his loyalty to the Hamburg club so…. we’ll see what happens….
Dutch successes in the big competitions… Ruud van Nistelrooy scores twice against Barca, but teenager Messi does it better… He scores thrice and both behemoths need to divide the points… Salomon Kalou (officially not a Dutch man…we won’t go into that…) scored the equalizer for Chelsea against the Spurs for a spot in the FA semi finals… George Boateng scores a header against Man Utd for Middlesbrough. And former Eredivisie striking colleagues Cruz (ex-Feyenoord) and Ibrahimovitsch (ex-Ajax) score for Inter Milan against rival AC…. Seedorf only played one half against Inter and failed to make an impression.
Van der Sar was rested by Ferguson in Man Utd’s match against Middlesbrough… Sar had a minor injury and had to bail out during the warming up.
And then this…. The Australian Football Federation is talking to Louis van Gaal (AZ Alkmaar coach and former “not-so-succesful” team manager for Oranje) about him leading the Socceroos to the WC2010 in South Africa…

HSV director told the press that vanderVaart is not for sale. i can imagine why he says that cause without vdVaart HSV would have gone down this year

Good to hear about Huntelaar back in form. He showed much promise, but I get the feeling that it was mostly hype mixed with the fact that he isn`t getting enough high quality games. I was hoping for a new Ruud, but I guess Van Persie will do for a while. Any opinions guys

@Ragnar: I still think Huntelaar is gonna be the best dutch striker since vanBasten…true, he still plays his games in Holland so few real top matches but you can see his talent anyway..just the way he always looks for the goal, his awareness in the box, his finishing..its all great.. he had moments when i wasnt all going his way but he kept believing in himself (even when he was put on the bench)
dont think vanPersie is our striker, vanBasten has always put him behind the striker or on the wing..its either Vennegoor or Babel (who both arent that good)

btw; vanBasten goes down on his knees for the wrong players..who cares how deZeeuw feels? hes of no importence to us..rather see him make up with vanNistelrooy and vanBommel (i know there’s about 0 change)

Goose I didn´t mean that Van Persie would be the next big striker, simply the next big ducth player. About Huntelaar you`re right about his skills, I agree with you on that, but I get the feeling that he simply isn´t getting to the point when you actually see the player standing out above the competition, like Ruud did and other great players. By the way anyone remember what age did Van Nistelrooy had when he was traded to Man U? I think it´s not too far off from Huntelaará age right now….. Anyway I hope that Huntelaar does indeed develop to the great striker we are hoping for, cuz otherwise striker wise our future looks very grim for Orange with Ruud leaving (and aging)and no other prospects in the way. By the way while I think that Babel isn´t as good as Huntelaar, I still think he has a lot of potential

@Ragnar: Ruud left PSV in 2001 when he was 25 (hes born on the same day and year as Kluivert btw), it could have been in 2000 if he didnt get injured that year…Huntelaar is born in 1983 so hell be 25 next year (thought he was younger)
I think the real strenght of Huntelaar is his mental game (which was also vanNistelrooys big plus)
he’s a guy from ‘de Achterhoek’, simple, honest people, who are hardworking..hell never act like people as Kluivert, davids etc.
hell be great for our team!!
