NED vs. POR HT

June 25th, 2006 | By: Mike | 21 Comments »

I don’t know what to say about it really. I hope van der Vaart comes on for van Bommel. It seems like another sending off is on the way and I don’t want it to be a Dutch player. The stage is set for a Dutch come back. Things were starting to happen for them near the end of the half and it isn’t over just yet.

With that said, I’m worried. I’m really worried. Will someone who is feeling optimistic please cheer me up?

What do opponents need to do to Robben for us to get a penalty? Even without the kick that was a high leg. Bad call there.

Am still hopeful for 2nd half, we’ll see what changes will MvB make.

GO ORANJE!

Dutch fans, ditch that coach of yours. He’s no good. Not only he has lost the match with bullying, diving players, but judging from the hissing in the stadium when Dutch had a possession, he has managed to lose the fans’ respect for your once-excellent national team.

“What do opponents need to do to Robben for us to get a penalty?”

Are you kidding? Within 10 minutes I went from supporting the Dutch to hoping the Portugese smeared them. Dirty, dirty play.

Netherland,I forgive you tonight, cos you’ve paid back what you got from Ivory Coast. And you should be feel shame for your nasty performance in nearly every match you played.I forgive you,but I never support you again. You all should go and play boxing games rather than football.

Goodness me… Ball on the bar, chance van Persie, penalty denied, keeper let’s go of Bommel’s crack… It wasn’t meant to happen. Referees are truly bad this WC… It’s over…

Van Basten lost this one before the kickoff - Kuyt is not an international class striker. What possessed him to keep Ruud on the bench?

Dutchmen, don’t forget what you’ve done to Ivory Coast.Don’t forget how nasty your players are!Don’t blame! No excuse! You did last time to Ivory Coast and were lucky that no one was caught by that shit referee. But you won’t always so lucky. So!That’s why you got the result tonight! If you blame, then what you think about your silly fauls on Ivory Coast players? You came to 1/8 by stealing at least 2 goals from Ivory Coast! That’s not going to happen again!

I think Ned-Por was the worst game of the World Cup. Not because of the players but because of FIFA and the referee. The game got out of hand and too many red cards. The referee did a poor job and as a consequence players lost respect for the referee and fairness.

Talking about fairness, FIFA’s highly talked about Fair Play propaganda is just that, propaganda. How can there be fair play when referees do not call plays equally for both teams. The so called big teams seems to get calls on their favor more often than small teams. Then there is the faking of injury all over the field. Time wasting seems to be the order of the day if your team is winning. So how can this be fair play? If anyone can provide me an objective reason how this is fair play, I will be glad.

I think this World Cup is among the worst in history in terms of application of the rules. FIFA never seems to have a strategy to really make games fair. What a shame becasue I really love this game and I want to see teams win fair and square, even if the team is not my team.

I disagree with just about every one who is going on about van Basten and Kuyt. Marco van Basten is a good manager. Kuyt had much more impact on the match that van Nistelrooy did in, say, the first match against Serbia and Montenegro or even the Cote d’Ivoire.

Kuyt works much much harder and regularly won headers far up the pitch. Kuyt tries to make things happen while Ruud likes to be the finished touch for someone else’s work.

I may have stuck with Ruud to start but Kuyt put in a fine performance.

marco made a lot of mistakes

first of all bot selecting seedorf, huntelaar and davids

second: kuijt instead of rvn

third: why we didn’t play calmly 11 against ten?

he was one of the best players of the worls, but he’s definitely not the best coach…

You should be ashame. 11 against 11 you would loose more than 1-0 against Portugal. Try play footbal next time.

I agree, van Basten is not a good coach:

Like it was noticed here -

why he didn’t take Davids, klivert, zeedorf??????

those kuyrt played nasty today

Van Basten improved defence but
looks like Hollands completely
forgot about their forwards
(they use to be good with it before)

What’s happend with our forwards?????????????
(Only mistakes, no team……)

It was ugly…..i don’t have
enoug words to say…….

reffery was bad, but hollands
playd so nacty, he gave all these cards, because
they just started to fight instead of playing……..
……………………

Definently, van Basten needs to be changed for may be Higgins or
I don’t know already,

too upset of this game and hollands today…………….

for PlayFootball:

Hope your portuguese will lost
I strongly hope England will make it…

uh uh…. “try to play football”….

your portugal were even more
nacty (were fighting more) against hollands

this is the first time since 1966 Portugal in 1/4 final

I am not England’s fan but hope England will fight them..

What’s hapening - only those
portugal, argentina, brasil around …..

ok, wait for next euro cup -
figu and so on will be old,
don’t think they will ever go so far

PLEASE, YOU PORTUGESE, SHUT UP ABOUT PLAYING FAIR, YOUR SIDE WAS JUST AS BAD AS OURS, now, if you have anything usefull to say about the match, stay, if not, get the hell out, because reading all these portugese comments is really getting annoying,i hear every single one of you portugese say, “we were the better team” “play fair”, ” learn how to play football” Seriously, im proud of my country, but no where near as selfish about the comments you are giving. Congrats on portugal winning, you guys were the better team, and they won. To my fellow dutch, it happens, and lets hope before we reach the age of 30 Holland has won th e world cup. I have all the faith in the team, they were young, the played fantastic, and seriously, van basten can coach the team for another 20 years or so! NEDERLAND NEDERLAND! WIJ ZIJN OVER TWEE JAAR TERUGG! Mike, thankyou for blogging, and i hope something similar will be done in the Eurocup. I Enjoyed it, and what can i say, we cant win the all :-)
