Mourinho proud of Arjen Robben

May 3rd, 2007 | By: Jan | 1 Comment »

Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho after the Liverpool - Chelsea match:

“I am proud of Arjen. He hasn’t spend a lot of time with us in the last month, and he only trained with us for three days… But he came up to me and said: coach, you don’t have a lot of attacking options, so use me when you can. I can play 20 minutes. So, he did. He tried all he could. He had the guts to take that penalty kick… What do you want me to say? He is in the dressing room, devastated. I know what they go through. I won that cup already, but they haven’t and they deserved to be in that finals (sic)… I am proud of them…”

This explains why he didn’t put Robben in earlier. Robben had told him exactly what he could do.

Good.

And I’m with the coach, you can’t blame the shooter when the goalie guesses right.

Missing entirely is another thing.
