More World Cup Wishes

Well it has been a week, and as promised more World Cup Wishes.

1. LET RUUD PLAY! This nonsense with Sir Alex better not spill into the World Cup.

2. Iran has to play all of it’s WC matches in stadiums filled entirely with women.

3. Germany admits that they have no use for an Away Kit.

4. Some one spits in Totti’s face (payback for Denmark v Itally Euro 2004)

5. Some one provides online commentary so we don’t have to listen to the awful ESPN audio.

6. In lue of #5. We all miraculaously learn Spanish and watch Telemundo. Goooooaaaaalllll

7. Tony Blair demands that the official World Cup mascot, Goleo the Lion, be returned unharmed to England, as they can not play with 2.

8. Marco van Basten stops complaining about selection deadline.

9. ESPN…exactly why can’t we get Derrik Ray? Just one non-American voice. That’s all I ask.

10. Dennis Bergkamp starts walking today, to be in Germany by kick-off.

How do you think Bergkamp would fit into the squad? What role would you want him to play? I think he is still a great player and a leader too but I don’t really think he fits into the style Van Basten has the team playing.

The number 2 idea might be the funniest thing i have ever seen. That would be great. I would add to that by mixing in some drunk topless german fralines and possibly Heidi Klum for the experience! Maybe then the Iranians would change how they view women. I know that would change my mind pretty quickly!

Guess what, I’ve met the English Goleo muppet in downtown Dortmund PLUS the wanker steering his sidekick bally friend Pille plus a micro.

Question: “Why doesn’t he wear trousers, is he a perv or a weirdo or so, I mean lions are known to have 12 inchers!”

Reply: “Think about it hard. I would have to kill you if I’d answer that question!”.

Oh, one more thing. Can’t wait for Team Meli excuse for their failure because the female fans on the stands distracted them.

Wow, Someone has met the pantless goleo. He makes that Euro 2004 Metro-Sexual football nymph, Kinas, look good. The Pille ball will frighten children.

I can’t believe they are going to change the mascot. This just makes them look worse. Just give the cat some pants.

Mike,

I’m not sure how Bergkamp fits in to be honest. I would like to see him coming off the bench in the 70th min.

I don’t think van Basten can leave any of his young strikers at home to bring Bergkamp.

Nicholas,

I love the topless fralines idea, but I was at Holland v Germany match at the Euros…I would perfer that the majority of those women keep all clothing on.

I Honestly think that Iran should be banned from the competition due to their stance on women. South Africa was banned for apartheid.

Yeah, but the ban hit the leaders in charge who wanted their brown-haired boys to perform.

Iran-boycott wouldn’t benefit anybody else that the system that tells their people “the world is against us”.

I agree Matt, finding strikers is not a problem for the Dutch. What about up and coming defenders? I miss Jaap Stam and F. de Boer. There just isn’t that experience in the defence.

Apartheid was mass murder and extreme oppression. Iran’s repression of women doesn’t fit with our modern ideas but I don’t think its quite on that level. The World Cup is about putting differences aside and playing football. Remember when the U.S. played Iran in…94? or 98? Everyone thought it would be full of tension but it was a tame match played with a good spirit.

Thats just my $0.02.

Mike,

You make a good point. I do remember 94 and 98, and I generaly think it is best to seperate football and politics. However, I just love football so much that I hate to see anyone denied access to it.

Your right. The good spirit of the game is what makes it great.

I agree with you in regards to the defence. I’m a huge supporter of Edgar Davids, because he provides so much experience in the mid-field. If van Basten fields the very young team I expect to see, it will really show when they face Argentina or anyone in the knockout rounds.

Re 3: the tournemant is technically on neutral ground, hence England, when hosting ‘66, playing the final in their away strip while West Germany played in their home strip.

Re 4: best to let that one lie lest someone starts drudging up Frank Rijkaard’s tiff with Rudi Voller (WC90?). Oh dear, I just did!
