More news…

Danny Koevermans is again courted by Feyenoord. The AZ striker was told he will be used as pinchhitter in this season and wants out. Feyenoord still needs another striker, so…

Suarez, the FC Groningen striker, said last week he wouldn’t go to court against his club, hoping that Ajax and FC Groningen would find eachother in a deal. But they didn’t. Groningen wants 9,5 Mio Euros (!!!!) and Ajax is only prepared to pay 6 Mio (!!!!). So now the son of Uruguay will still go to court.

Australian international Jason Culina, former Sydney Olympic, Ajax and FC Twente player wants to leave PSV. The midfielder feels he won’t get a starting position in Koeman’s line-up and wants to move to England.

George Boateng, midfielder for Middlesbrough and former Feyenoord player, moves to Tottenham Hotspur. Let’s hope under Jol Boateng can show Marco van Basten that he has been overlooked for too long.

AZ signed Graziano Pelle, striker from Lecce Italy. The talented Italian impressed at the U21 tournament and will be AZ’s most expensive player ever. The Azzuro wants “to learn from the Dutch masters to return to Italy a better player, like Marco van Basten and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.”

Kevin-Prince Boateng moved to Tottenham from Herta Berlin, I guess he’s german. I don’t think George has moved from Middlesbrough? Though I think he should…

heres a (broad) translation:

Robben has reopened talks with Real Madrid, he has told Chelsea he wants to leave

Madrid ended talks with Drenthe.. the club was willing to pay 12,5 mln euros but Feyenoord sticked to the 17 mln they asked before…Madrid will be looking for other left-legged players but the offer of 12,5 mnl still stands

already told you guys Feyenoord was playing a dangerous game..if Drenthe plays a mediocre season they cant sell him at all..they should take the 12,5 mln

ferenc: what are you doing reading dutch newspapers?? haha..youre a diehard alright!

@goose: thx for the translation – for the football news (especially dutch football and barca) i try to read everyhing. sometimes i quite understand written dutch (in my childhood i learned german and dutch language is between german and english). (and i was at least 25 times in the netherlands – one of my best friend lives in amsterdam.)

i do the same with catalan (or spanish) foot news – the french help a lot.

(i do this kind of reading once or twice per day).

i think drenthe should stay at least one more year at feyenoord – and after the ec08 go somewhere else (in spain precisely to catalunya:-))

i’m sure robben will go to real

Chelsea really needs Robben from what I saw last year. Every time he subbed in they burst into a higher level of footbal.

I’m sure Robben wants to go somewhere else as a starter, but I can really see why Chelsea does NOT want to let him go. They need him.

Also, personally I’d prefer that Robben stay somewhere where they don’t play him too much. He’s injury prone.

Pelle seems like a smart kid. Go to Holland, learn from the Dutch masters-namely Van Gaal “the best coach in the world” and then move back to play for the big clubs in Italy, better prepared. I wish some of our jong oranje were that smart. It’s ok to stay in the Eredivisie until you are 22-23 and then make your move at 23-25. Makes good sense to me. But as we all know, money talks.

@lars; yeah great goal, somebody posted it on this blog already..grear move, expect a lot from vanPersie (esp. with Henry gone)

@stephen; yeah, think its the one great advantace we have as a minor competition..we can be the learning ground for great players, even after the Bosman arrest..we had Romario, Ronaldo, all the great dutch players..the competition is difficult enough to take serious and easy enough to let young players learn their trade, think its one of the reasons so many young dutch players (24-25) are a succes in other competitions, theyve had time to learn how to play..its a real problem for young english players, they get to play in one of the best competitions right away with all that foreign competetion

@ferenc; why should Drenthe go to Depor?? interesting choise.remember when Makaay did his thing there?? think its great to have such a great striker back in Holland..hell make 20 at least!

Excellent goal by van persie.

I think he will be the best player of the world some day, he has everything. His left foot is a killer and he can create danger from nothing.

Feyenord is asking for a lot of money, they have to realise that Drenthe hasn’t been at international level, he hasn’t played at professional level for many years so they can’t ask for that money. But I think it would be better for him to stay with feyenord for another year and learn from the experienced players.

OOPS!!! SO much professional football players named Boateng are there already?!?!?! My bad guys. Didn’t have a lot of time, wanted to feed you some news, saw the headlines and now this…

I will go and flog myself now… :-)

Soon to be published here: interview with Robin v Persie.

And please, keep on posting that I was wrong about Boateng, even if the first comment already stated it ;-)

No problem Jan, it’s Kevin-Prince by the way.

A bit off the subject, but I have watched several Liverpool games from last year(my oldest son is a Liverpool fan), and I’m sorry to say, but Kuyt is not very good. His first touches are horrible, and his passing is average at best. He just runs around like a dog, and I guess that gets attention because coaches like the effort, but otherwise he seems to me to be pretty much lousy. Sometimes you need to work smarter and not harder. I think Oranje is in pretty bad shape if he even comes close to making the first 11. It’s nothing personal, it’s just what I see on the pitch. I never saw him play at Feyenoord, so maybe it is adjusting to a new league, but it is almost embarrasing to watch sometimes.

I will have to agree a little bit with stephen about kuyt.. his best attribute seems to be his work rate, not his skill.. his skill seems just average, but he does work hard and manage to create opportunities for his teammates. He needs to score more though.

@goose: ferenc wants Drenthe to go to Catalunya (Barcelona), not (Deportiva de la) Coruña.

It’s funny. I saw Kuyt make his debut at 17 years old for FC Utrecht and I saw what you describe. A lot of running, not a lot of skills. But at Utrecht and later for Feyenoord, he changed into this smart, savvy leader. Scoring fine goals, always leading the pack, with smart openings and a good brain. So I figured I was wrong. Most people who work(ed) with him praise him for his intelligence, van Marwijk, Koeman, Van Basten and now Gerrard and Benitez… So, are we wrong or are they “covering” up their scouting mistakes :-) ?

haha, stupid mistake i made there..sorry ferenc

Always a great fan of Kuyt, i know his technic is not that great but we have plenty of players who have a great technic, but they all lack the hart that Kuyt has.. everwhere he went he became a crowd favo., he walks 12 marathons each game and lets other strikers perform
agree that he should score more in the Pr.Leg. (thats why im so glad that when i went to see Liv. play v Villa he actually scored and scored on the side where i was seated..i went totally mad in my orange shirt and all the liv. fans were looking at me as if i were crazy, haha)

in the end i think we need players like Kuyt, we cant have all primadonnas!!

And he looks very dutch so thats a pre aswell, haha

agree with goose: the balance is really important,so wee need both kuyts and seedorfs. hardworkers are always welcome in a team (my only one problem with him that he’s a striker – he should be a holding midfielder!)
