Rafael van der Vaart is hot. Juventus is currently negotiating with HSV, that wants to sell the midfielder this summer for viele euros. If Raf finishes his contract in 2009, his asking price will be 1,5 mio euros and HSV is trying to get a wee bit more this summer. Apart from Juve, there is also keen interest from Chelsea. Chelsea scout Rainer Bonhof confirmed as much last weekend.

Arsenal is 5 point lose after their 2-0 win over Blackburn Rovers. Captain Andre Ooijer couldn’t change that and neither could Blackburn sub Maceo Rigters who played his second match in the EPL as a replacement.

Bert van Marwijk will confirm his team managers role for Oranje later this week, is the common expectation in Holland. Feyenoord will allow their coach this chance. The clause in Van Marwijk’s contract specifically mentioned Oranje, but also a number of European top clubs such as Bayern Munich and Valencia. “I’ve always been a Valencia fan,” said Van Marwijk. “The city, the stadium, everything. I was really a bit jealous when they signed Ronald Koeman.”

Ayl: Don’t think the transfer fee for v d Vaart will be 1.5 M euros. I think Jan was referring to buying out his contract our something like that. Today the UK press is saying that Chelsea could pay around 15 M pounds. So that seems like a much more realistic figure.

Ugh, I hope he doesn’t go to either of those teams, although I’d prefer Chelsea between the two.

Ideally I’d love to see him at Real to team up with Robben and Sneijder on the midfield, with Ruud up front… wouldn’t that be ideal.

Arsenal would be lovely as well.

What I tried to explain is that Raf has a limited transfer prize in his contract, allowing him to leave HSV in 2009 for only 1.5 Mio!! It’s true.
That’s why HSV is motivated to sell him this coming summer. And even 15 Mio is cheap for the midfielder. Don’t forget, you get Sylvie Meis as well!!

I’m happy he will make his step up to one of the big guns this summer. I was worried when he got sidelined at Ajax, with that Koeman fiasco and left for HSV. It all worked out well for him. Didn’t have a lot of injuries recently… Looking forward to see more Rafaelshine in the future!

I admit I was scratching my head when he first moved to HSV but it has given him regular football, not put too much of an unrealistic burden on him, and allowed him to develop his leadership skills as captain.

And with RvP’s slow recovery, he may take on an even bigger responsibility in June.

I agree with Bruce and Igor. I hate Juventus a lot, and I don’t like Chelsea, and neither play attractive attacking football. I hope another club comes forward.
