More egg on Henk Kesler’s face…
Most of you will have missed Henk Kesler’s “faux pas” earlier in December… The fearless leader of the Dutch Football Federation (KNVB) made himself an instant clown when two big fixtures in December had to be cancelled… It was AZ-Ajax and PSV-Feyenoord (or some sort of combi with these clubs) on the so-called Super Sunday. These matches were cancelled because the police union sort of called for a strike, claiming more pay-rise for the 1000s of police officials who - among other things - try to keep the real fans at matches save and protect them from the minority of hooligans…
Now, we may differ on this topic, but me personally… I think police-men (and women) are underpaid. And so are teachers and nurses, to name a few job-categories. Anyhow, the police striked and the mayors of the big cities declared that they could facilitate the KNVB.
Mr Henk Kesler, our guiding light, gave a press-conference, saying that “he had some advice for the government: do not pay those spoiled brats from the police any euro more, because they ruined the pleasure of millions of football fans…”. Not only was he out of place, he enraged the police community and many media-people, reporters, coaches, etc though it was a disgrace that the director of the federation with the biggest spoiled brats with humungous pay-checks had the guts to attack the guys and dolls who try to headbutt bricks back for a lousy 2.000 euros per month!!!
The next day, he didn’t want to apologize, he stood by his words yadda yadda yadda… Then, the Dutch politicians started to put pressure on him and a week later - or so - he said that he shouldn’t have said it… Or something like that…
What a wanker!
Anyway, one month later, a reporter asked him who needed to succeed Van Basten. Kesler should have kept his mouth shut, but the ego-tripper quipped that Guus Hiddink was the number 1 candidate for the job. 30 Minutes later, the reporter dialed Guus at home in Moscow and Guus said: “I’m honored, but please tell him he doesn’t need to call me. I am not coming back for the job. I want to finish my job here, like I told Bayern Munich and many other clubs. Bye…”
Great… Any “real” candidate will now know he is at least candidate number 2 (or less)…
What an idiot!

This stupid man, Kesler….he is a complete asshole, he is the one who should be fired before than van Basten…his decisions lack logic and what he says is disgusting for everybody. I think he is ruining Dutch football, somebody do something againste him now!

i agree… talk about poor people management. what a farce!!
I doubt theres much to do against him though.. he seems powerful enough to be able to keep his position.

This Kesler fellow sounds like a complete and utter idiot. Why is it that in this day and age you still have the “boy’s club” syndrome at the head of so many Fooball Associations in the world? FIFA itself could do with some new blood too…As they say, it all starts from the top.
The issue of policing at stadiums is very important and clubs should be willing to pay their part. After all, you want families to be able to bring their kids to games so they can get the full experience without having to worry about some crackheads and God forbid, their health and lives. Given the fact that each European league is getting bigger TV contracts(very much despite the “quality” of the product…), they should be willing to pay the police what it costs to make it a safe experience. Having the “Soccer King” in a country making statements like these is downright disgusting.
There just was a court case in EPL where Wigan refused to pay a Euro 450 000 bill for extra policing services. Their argument was that they were fine paying for the costs inside the stadium but not the surrounding areas. Well, unless you are part of Star Trek and have teleportation capabilities how are you going to get safely in or out of the stadium without policing of rival fans? The judge threw the case out and ordered Wigan to pay. However, he also said that these matters where not cut in stone and urged police and clubs sit down BEFORE the season begins and agree on services and fees. Kind of makes sense in my book.
Sure there are some “bad eggs” in the police, but lets not make them the villains when there are some other white collar thieves lining their pockets and egos, while having no-one to answer to, and a job as long as they fancy having it.

This Kessler is a disgrace!!! this is a guy born form a weatly family with a silver spoon and now he talks about ‘ spoiled’ policeman!!! without the police there would be no football at all … i have been to many matches in the past and i can assure you that these officers have to put up with a great deal of violance and assaults … the whole of Holland was pissed at the guy (and still are) and lets not forget that it was Kesler who brought us vanBasten …
without the police there would be no footy at all, clubs and KNVB should be thankful!!
agree with Jan; Kessler = WANKER!!
