Match Preview NED - ARG

June 21st, 2006 | By: Jan | 12 Comments »

Today is The Day. As most coaches will tell you, the most important match is the next one coming up. It doesn’t matter that the both of us are through already. There’s more at stake.
How ’bout winning the group. Or drawing against the “lesser” team of Group D. Prestige. Rhythm. Confidence. Honour.

Professional football players are habitual animals. They are taught to win. From when they’re young. They hate losing. And don’t you think the Dutch will be motivated to beat the side that impressed the world with their 6-0 win over S&M? You bet!

Now it’s time for those final score predictions. Extra credits if you pick the goal scorers…

i fink it is extremly important 2 win this game! for winning would mean that we would probably face mexico then germany then france in the next rounds. If we were to lose we would face portugal then england then brazil! i kno which teams i would prefer to play!! i predict the scoreline to be a very borin 0-0 they will both cancel each other out.

Please don’t win against Argentina. It will be delightful to see them fall after getting so high during this first stage. If their ego is usually huge, imagine if they win again! I can only imagine their fall, he he he.

But I’m just kidding, don’t mind me. I can only hope Holland crushes their ego asap. They are already out of control!…

Actually, NOT winning this group might be the better result given the likely quarter-final encounters. I’d rather play England than Germany…at least at this point. Then again, if you want to win it all, you have to beat them all, and in the end it really doesn’t matter when you play them.

As for today’s match, the sensible thing is to call it a draw…all say 1-1 with Messi and nan Nistelrooy getting the goals. That makes Netherlands the runners-up…as I said, perhaps the better result in the end. ;)

I dont know how important it is to win? But as of right now we want to play the second team which could be Angola!? I think we win today, 3-2 (2 goals by V. Nistelrooj, 1 by Kuyt) (1 by Messi, 1 by Random Midfielder :)

Anyone think the odds for an Argentinian win at 1/2 goal advantage to Holland too much..?
(FYI. 1/2 goal adv. to Holland means Argentina can win by 1 goal margin)
Both teams won’t be playing 100%..,right?

With Don Leo’s Trinidad and Tobago out, there are only 3 Dutch coaches left in the World Cup. Here’s hoping Australia and South Korea manage to qualify as well!

Argentina will win! Holland has a good chance of an upset but looking at the current set of argentine players and their hunger for success, it’s going to be tough for the dutch!

Btw, what ego are you talking about??Doesn’t all team have one when they come to this world stage! Pls post some intelligent comments!!

Peace!
