Martin Jol says no to PSV
FC Twente manager Fred Rutten – and former Hiddink assistant at PSV – is the new number 1 candidate to replace Ronald Koeman as head coach now Martin Jol has said no to the Dutch champions. Martin Jol doesn’t want to go head first into a new adventure, PSV has come too soon for him.
The 44 year old Rutten – ex player for FC Twente – started his head coaching career at FC Twente before moving to PSV Eindhoven as head youth development. Under Hiddink, he became assistant coach and got a big responsibility, with Hiddink working in the Alex Ferguson management style, leaving the field training and coaching to Rutten and Eykelkamp. The duo were Hiddink’s preferred successors but the PSV board thought the two lacked the name and experience to do it. And so they got Ronald Koeman. Who does have the name, but not the experience by the way, and who left the champs in his second season when Valencia lured him back to Spain. In the meantime, Rutten proved his worth (again) at FC Twente, finishing fourth last season with attractive football. Rene Eykelkamp by the way, is now part time assistant coach and part time players’ manager.

I think you should stay, youre important to the blog. I know ive offended you but I still think I’m right. But I should have been a bit more careful with my words. It went a little harsh.
Anyway, back to subject.
I think Martin Jol would have been perfect for PSV. They have just about the same philosophy. They buy players. Lots of players. Lots of young, talented players. Im not sure Huub Stevens is the right man, he seems to like Dutch players too much. Hamburger SV got like the same amount of Dutch players as PSV.
Im not sure what they should do.

Goose: you should stay, you are part of this blog:-)
i had no internet connection in the last 3 days and hasn’t follow too much your debate and don’t want to enter in it. but i think multi-culturalism is a good thing – for ex i really love multi cultural cities and societies: new york, london or mauritius (to not always cite the most evident ones) etc. much more interesting than monocultural ones – for ex. in hungary i really really miss it. quite boring and it might be a reason that i go abroad as often as possible. (i’m not at all leftist, rather an ultra libertarian in the political sense too.) always have a favour for national teams with multi-cultural background (of course oranje but i sympathize with france too). in the last 20 years my favourite oranje players were rijkaard, gullit, davids, kluivert, seedorf… hope that emmanuelson, babel and drenthe will become great players. this is the good side effect of multiculturalism.
what happened with van der saar? injured again? last saturday i watched sevilla-real – it seems that sevilla is back. will boulah go to other club after this season?
too bad that psv lost yesterday hopefully they will qualify for the uefa cup. and of course i watched barca-rangers. really hate all these anti-football teams that defend and defend with no creativity etc. like a lot scotland as a country but it would be a shame for the european football if they qualified for the ec 08. their style is miles away from the joga bonito:-)
