Marc Overmars and other weird news…

Jan Everse talks to angry fans…
AD editor van Nijnatten traveled to see Go Ahead Eagles play, with Marc Overmars.
Or rather, without Marc Overmars. The former Ajax, Arsenal and Barca star was benched. The multi-millionair was told to warm up in the second half. Which he did. For 44 minutes.
In the last minute, the Oranje winger was brought on. He only touched the ball once and the ref blew his final whistle. The happy-go-lucky player showered and made his way to the second hand bus to travel back to Deventer.
“The coach didn’t need me today. The only reason he brought me at the end was to win some time. And it worked.”
“It wasn’t a good game. Or rather…it was pretty bad. And I like that. We call it “hotsenknotsboerenkoolvoetbal” (whambamvegetablestewfootball) and I love that. Mud, clay, dangerous tackles, late challenges and lots of running. Great… ”
Marc Overmars…. You gotta love the guy….
Even weirder news… A rich English investment fund, owners of Coventry City, who recently also made a stab at Manchester City and planning to buy a Portuguese club as well, prepared an offer on….FC Zwolle (!).
The plan was to invest funds in Zwolle in order to have them promoted to the Eredivisie and create a sub top team…
Manager Henk van Ginkel and coach Jan Everse were in on the scheme. The current board and management would have to go once the new owners settled in. The board quickly sacked the Zwolle coach, gambling that the English investor would back off… Hmmm….

agree bobotoh ; most efficiant player i have ever seen
can you imagine playing 4-3-3 with 2 Overmars’s on the wings..we would be unbeatable

Netherlands

yes, and a van Basten/Bergkamp hybrid up top, and three Stam’s in defence
. Fourth should be a fast, clean sweeper like Frank de Boer to get any players that did not turn around and run screaming for their mothers at that sight.

He can operate on left or right wing. His crossing is excellent. I think he is faster than Robben. If Holland wants to play 4-3-3, then it must find a winger that is smart like Overmars.

Overmars was immense

Yes, I think the best word to describe him is efficiency. I hope that someday Holland will find a new Marc Overmars.
