Looking ahead
This is another match report for today’s match against Mexico. It caught my eye where it said that Mexico played with a five man defence. Was this good practice against teams like Serbia and Montenegro who are very defensive minded? I’m leaning towards yes. This would be good practice for being in a match against a side who wants to hit on the counter-attack. They fell behind but came back and won it. Those ‘plavi’ should be worried.

The Babel-Kuijt goal sounds good. Hope it turns up on youtube. Heitinga’s redemption good, too.
As for S&M, should MvB deploy a man-marker against Dejan Stankovic?

You can see the goals from Holland’s games on http://www.knvb.nl/

Rik.. i think youre right we should .. Kezman is very dangerous as well.
The S&M defence is gonna swirl and roam around VN like flies on shit
… So this is a main problem.
Our only rational way to win this game is if we had a midfield attacking forward through the middle (sneijder-VDV) and wingers constantly bombarding the area with crosses. Van Nistelrooy may only get one chance the whole entire match. So i hope he’ll be on a 1/1 ratio, and not 1/3 like last time.

The key will be: fast paced passing and individual actions by the wingers or from midfield. You only need that half a meter freedom in the box. Holland will get at least 5 scoring opportunities vs maybe 2 for S&M. The winner will be the team with the highest efficiency, transforming these opportunities in goals. You do not want the “best play” award and leave the tournament early. We have a couple of those awards already…

Im curious to see sunday’s line-up.
It will the first real draft of that the Oranje’s line-up is gonna be like on june 11.
But im sure, well quasi sure lol, that VDV is not gonna play, until the second half maybe. If anything.
I believe the Australians are gonna prove the toughest team yet to beat . Plus nobody wants to go in the wc defeated. So theyre gonna give their best.

I’ve seen what the Ozzies can do once their spirit is up. The Syndey Olympics is such an example. They can step up to the plate and deliver the goods out of nowhere. And Hiddink has the team all pumped up. And let’s face it, the Socceroos have a strong squad. The match next Sunday is going to be interesting in a tactical sense as well… Hiddink wants Oz to play like the Dutch, so thats’ going to be fun. I expect a 4-4 score or something. A lot of fun… Another thing on the ozzies, they are likely to become the neutrals favourites. Their heroic comeback, the laid back style of the ozzies, Hiddink, those kind of things…

Don’t know man.. That Yellow and Green jersey is just awful and unappealing. Regardless of how good the team plays..

Rami mate, we are now playing in plain yellow jerseys for the WC with a touch of green trim.
The game on Sunday should be a cracker. Both teams will field strong lineups. We are playing more of a Dutch game (as Jan pointed out). Can’t wait to watch it.
