He also might want to work on scoring more than 10 goals this season for once. That would be helpful. If Rafa wants to use him as a link between mids and striker, I don't see him straight away throwing him in there with Gerrard, Macherano, Alonso etc. Mr Babel has quite a bit of development to go.
