Agreed! I think Babel is a typical 4-4-2 striker. Thierry Henry like.

Babel is gone; he has been sold for about 19 mln euro, hes about 5 th on the list of all time transfers of dutch players, think most expensive was/is Overmars from Arsenal to Barcelona for 40 mln!
i still remember when Gullit went to Ac Milan form Psv and his transfer was around 17 mln (dutch gulden, about 7-8 mln euros), we all thought the world had gone mad! now it seems like pennys..

still will be interested to see how Babel will fit a 4-4-2 system... think it will be good for Oranje too that he moves top London..not only cause of the level of play but also so we can let Ben. work out on what position Babael should/could play, i still do not know were that actually is, was not impressed by Babal as a 'second'striker behind Rigters during the U21 EC.. but hes not a real winger either...interesting to see what will happen

rafa is not a good manager as far as choosing right player for right spot
i think he may b successful there but wont get start in 50%games this season
its true that the reds desperately need a winger but rafa is a mysterious man u never expect normal frm him anyway it wud b far better if he wud b playing for arsenal becoz they play some very good football which liverpool dont they just play some kinda -ve football i think
but nevertheless he is a gre8 talent n we may see some gre8 goals in oranje shirt this year n next year as well
which part of nepal u live mario n darth

Looks like the deal may be close to done:

If true, hopefully he will play more than I think he will. Maybe Rafa sees him as Left Mid in the 4-4-2, replacing Zenden. I wish him well. I think he has a lot of potential, physically strong.

I agree with you Stephen. Babel should stay, in Liverpool he will not develop his talent as much as he would do in Holland and besides next year is the Euro 2008 and the national coach will want to call the in form players and if Babel is rotated or benched regularly perhaps will be axed from the list

No doubt he will get playing time, just not a whole lot. In Holland he will get 35+ games(including CL games) and consistently be in the starting XI. In England right now at Liverpool at age 20, he will get maybe 15 games, many of which will be in a sub role behind Torres-Kuyt-Crouch. He also might want to work on scoring more than 10 goals this season for once. That would be helpful. If Rafa wants to use him as a link between mids and striker, I don't see him straight away throwing him in there with Gerrard, Macherano, Alonso etc. Mr Babel has quite a bit of development to go.

well, if Liverpool wants to pay up till 10 mln euros im sure theyll give him playing time..

he would be the second striker cause Liv. always play 4-4-2 (even 4-5-1 in away matches) and think thats suits him better than playing as a winger, hs actually not a real winger and not a real striker but something in between

but agree, Babel has still a lot to learn, (like his hip-shot wich was áttacked'by f.deHaan during the U21 EC) and it would prob. be better for his development that hed stay at Ajax

Yes, that maybe so Darth, but that means he will only get the nod for Carling Cup matches, some FA cup matches. I can't see him getting chosen in any CL games or league games. With Ajax he will start every game and play in the CL - much better for a developing player.

But there are many matches played, meaning that the players have to be rotated a lot. But anyway, he should stay.
