Kuyt, Cocu, de Cler MVPs in Holland

Dirk Kuyt was voted the Eredivisie’s most valuable player for this past season. I think this reflects his over all contribution to his team despite scoring plenty of goals. That would explain Klaas Jan Huntelaar’s exclusion. Phillip Cocu received the nod for second and AZ full back Tim de Cler came in third. I’m not surprised by Cocu’s place but I hadn’t realized de Cler played such a vital role for AZ. Props to van Basten for recognizing him and giving him a chance at the international level.
