Kuyt and Seedorf benched?
Robben is ready for Rumania. The Chelsea star trained separately from the group but seems fit to play.
A Robben in form can be crucial for the attacking impulses now van Persie is injured. In East Europe Robben is considered a fearsome opponent after his excellent play against Rumania two years ago (2-0 win for Oranje).
Robben will probably start as right winger, with Huntelaar centrally and Babel on the left flank. Rafael van der Vaart will be a “normal” midfielder again, after a couple of outings on the right flank. And since van Basten wants to use De Zeeuw as center midfielder either Seedorf or Sneijder will start on the bench.
“Sneijder, Seedorf and Van der Vaart on one midfield is a bit too much, I think,” the team manager declared.
Van Basten will declare his starting eleven tomorrow, but it seems Seedorf will be the victim of De Zeeuw’s stellar progression.
It seems only logical that Seedorf, who came back into Oranje last November, is only third in the hierarchy after Van der Vaart and Sneijder.
Van Basten: “Although Seedorf did play right winger during training, it is not his best spot. We did that only because Robben couldn’t train with us.”
Kuyt will also start on the bench. In the last five international games, van Basten used Huntelaar, Kuyt, Vennegoor, van Persie and again Kuyt as number 9.
“Kuyt doesn’t do anything wrong,” explained van Basten. “He did well on the wings, he functions good centrally, but we do have to make a choice. Someone will step up to the plate to stop the center striker discussion, but we’re not there yet.”

latest news; vanbasten will play Landzaat and not deZeeuw..really cant believe it, Landzaat hasnt played a single decent game since his move to Wigan..rather see deZeeuw play who is much more explosive (and still young)

whereas landzaat is very mediocre,it seems that marco builds his team around him. the defense is also mediocre, and the other problem is that marco doesn’t take any risk. for ex. heitinga could be very good as a defensive midfielder, and more secure than anyone else for this role. i’d prefer seedorf and sneijder for the 2 other midfielders. vdv for the left wing, huntelaar or rather kovermans for the middle and babel for the right wing. don’t like robben, and in the last year he hasn’t evolved at all. still the defence remains the most vulnerable part of the team…

i say let deZeeuw play and prove himself, especially since he is in good form. landzaat has had plenty of opportunities with oranje and has failed to impress.

Wow, that’s frustrating indeed! In the lead-up to the game, the Dutch press were really getting the impression that MvB wanted to take more risks (De Zeeuw and maybe even Seedorf, Sneijder, Vaart in one team)… And this is what I meant with that KNVB interview (I think the KNVB presshounds made the interview up…): let MvB explain in detail why Landzaat. What does MvB see, that we don’t?

he guys, lets not rush to conclusians, maybe vanBasten is trying to confuse romania, its just that it is tradition that the players who will start will useally get an orange shirt in training when they play a little game on the end of the training..first two times it was deZeeuw who got an orange shirt but yesterday it was Landzaat…i mean, Landzaat would prob. even not make the first 22 if i were bondscoach
think this will be the starting 11:
Stekelenburg – Bouma – Matijsen – Kew Jaliens – vanBronckhorst
Sneijder – vdVaart – Landzaat/deZeeuw –
Robben – Huntelaar – Babel
well, finally we have a real game coming up, lets see if we can see any progression.
