Kluivert? Has any one seen Patrick Kluivert?

February 19th, 2006 | By: Matt | 11 Comments »

Patrick Kluivert is out for 10 weeks after his recent knee surgery. With all of Kluiverts recent injuries it is hard to believe he is only 28. The striker has not been a part of the Dutch side since Euro 2004 and was clearly not on Van Bastien’s list for Germany, but one has to wonder what happened to Patrick Kluivert.

With Barcalona Kluivert scored 91 goals in 183 appearances . Nearly one goal every other match. Needless to say Kluivert didn’t help Newcastle or Valencia any. Perhaps Newcastle is cursed. Just ask Michael Owen. At just 28 years old Kluivert could have still turn his career around. Unfortunately he won’t recover in time to help Valencia fight for the title. Cross your fingers for a speedy recovery and with a little luck a spot on Netherlands Euro 2008 side.

I think Kluivert is born 1976, so he would be 30 years old, right?

I stand corrected. Kluivert is 30. I still think he has a few good years in him, I expected a lot more of him when he moved to Newcastle.

I thought Kluivert’s birthday was in 1 July 1976. So I guess he still is 29. Ruud and Patrick have the same birthday I believe.

Mike, good eye. Yea he is soon to turn 30. Either way by no means washed up. But then again I would like to see Dennis Bergkamp play one more time.

Who do you like for the Holland strikers?

I’m a United fan so my first loyalty is to Ruud. I don’t mind Sir Alex’s decision. I think that by being left out of the last two starting line ups Ruud has gained an incredible hunger again. Saha also deserved to have that start in the Cup.

So I like Ruud, Kuijt and Robben as a front three. I also like van Persie. The other strikers on the bubble like Makaay, Castelen and Babel are all quality but consistency is lacking I think. Romeo has played well though.

Ruud and Patrick do not play together though. I would have to be convinced that Patrick is back on form to consider him a viable option for the squad.

I almost forgot about Klaas-Jan Huntelaar. He’s having a season like Kuijt did last year.

I just think Sir Alex should have given Ruud a chance in the Wigan league match. It would have been a great way to compare Saha and van Nistelrooy. I’m sure Ruud will put in a few more for United and get his lost confidence back.

i dont see how Patrick does not even make the top 6 for stikers with san marco. Is his attritude really that atrostcious? Id really like to see him start scoring some goals for his country after the world cup. He is 28, and leads the history of the Ntherlands scoring with 40 large, get this, hes 28!
