@David: I think I have been watching the same games as you my friend, and I am not the only one who has raised these sentiments regd his kicking even on this blog.

He just had direction problems, and now that his range is getting lower by his age, it is not his best part of his game. Mind you, if that is the biggest problem your goalkeeper has, you don’t have too much to worry about I suppose.

I am more worried about what is coming up through the ranks in Oranje. None of them (thegoalies) are convincing me they have what it takes to win a WC. I believe it is possible to win a WC without a world class keeper (Brazil has proven that), but more often that not, you really need to have one. Remember 1974? Couple that with a suspect defense, we may have to have to score 3-4 goals a game to win the tournament. Possible, but a tall order. We’re not going to play Iceland, Norway and Macedonia everyday.

@finnster01 thats an interesting comment about van der sar but how could you say his kicking has always been terrible? He has the best feet by far of any goalie in the world, I do not know which van der sar you have been watching for the past ten years. But in terms of goalkeeping for the oranje i think if vermeer continues to develop then he could be a solid goalkeeper, he definatly has the potential.

I just have a few points that I was thinking of while reading the comments:

- People like to point out how horribly the Galacticos era ended last time around, but also don’t forget that it had great success in the beginning… Personally I hope it doesn’t have any success this time around if the Dutchies are all gone.

- Tiju: Robinho didn’t make a brave decision or act like a man last year. He was chasing after money and he is constantly acting like a spoilt little brat – this is not someone to model your behaviour after!

- I hope the Dutchies all find good clubs to play for and get to play regularly. I also really hope that Ruud goes to a club playing CL football, because I desperately want him to beat Raul’s CL goal scoring record. Raul only has it because he’s plays so many freaking games in the CL – Ruud has almost as many goals in half the games!

- Vaart at Arsenal might actually be a very nice fit… I’d like to see that I think!

I am worried that EVDS may be beginning to be a bit past it. He is beginning to look like an old Peter Shilton to be honest. Don’t get me wrong, he is still very good, but it is a bit like the stock market, it is decline but when do you know when you have truly hit the bottom? His kicking was always terrible, but not it is beyond awful. His best part of the season last year was the EC, where he played superb.

What is worrysome to me is that he is still the best Dutch goalie there is by a mile.

Don’t be surprised if Man U grabs a new goalie with some of their Ronaldo money soon though.

i would put
wesley and roban to barca-coz xavi and ineasta will teach them how to play unselfishly and total environment of barca will make them great players.
Rafa should go to MANU irrespective of the fee and amount.this will help our dutch national team for sure,offcourse it will help Manu also.
Hunter can move to milan or man city,he will get his reputation there.
Drenthe should come back to NEDs and should join Ajax-JOL or feynoord-Been.
Ruud should consider teams like everton,spurs,astonvilla and such like hardworking teams.this will help his fitness also.

Ourliverpoolidian babel should think about AJax under martinjol if he wants to grow.

Real was so easy to hate before Old Horsey Face went there, it will be so much easier to hate them when all the Oranje leaves this summer!

I hope they all go to the EPL, much easier to see them on TV here in North America that way.

Perhaps the Eredivisie should drop down to 12 teams such as the SPL, the top players spread around fewer teams should strengthen all. That and fewer moves for great young talents should help Oranje too.
