Johan Cruyff’s presentation as “national” team manager

This is the picture that was promised to the Oranje fans in 1990 and 1994… Obviously, with a naranjita jersey, but hey…

It’s 2009 now… 19 years onwards and the Catalans are loved more by the Football Gods than the Dutch…

A great day for them, a sad day for us :-) .

And at the same time, the KNVB gave JC the cold shoulder when asked to be the Catalans oponent in the December 23 charity game.

Makes sense though. Every time Henk Kelser has a chance to appear sympatico, he hits it out of the park.

God, I’d love to see a game with Van Marwijk and Cruyff on the bench, and players like Iniesta, Xavi and Krkic playing against Sneijder, Van Persie and Castelen… But it’s not to be. So, I’m back to dreaming….

If anyone wanted to comment, Juan Mata and joaquin are wingers, Villa deep striker, David Silva leftmidfieler/shadowstriker, only real regular creative midfielders=Ever Banega and Pablo, overlooked them a bit, they’re alright.

he (vdv) should go to sevilla, brilliant team

i agree abt vdv .. actually both valencia and sevilla are great choices imo.. but he certainly should stay in spain rather than go to the premier league.

Perez stated today or yesterday , i dont know when exactly, that it wouldnt be the end of the world if RM didnt win trophies this year. And that it would take time for the squad to mold together properly, and surprisingly is happy with the players that arrived recently as well as the players that were here from before. And that finally, he is not looking to replace pellegrini any time soon.

haha .. just to be fair.

poor alcorcon – they qualified for meeting barca in the next round.
actually i imagine the damage vdv could do with jesus navas (who’s a fantastic player) and perrotti to opposite defences. madrid will never be a great team without decent defenders.

Well, at least Ruud could play 90 minutes. But he needs to get out of Madrid in December so he can enjoy more minutes at a better “team”.

Some negative points of orange from a negative man (Tiju)
1. Does Van bommel deserve a spot in orange? I think he doesn’t deserve it ahead of De saaw, Emmanuelson, Maduro, Dejong,Brama and Leroy at least now.
2. I had high hopes for stijn schaars.what is this guy is doing now? is he playing football? I saw a future Dunga in him.But now a days he plays like an average guy.it is a big loss for orange.
3. Still BVM think that ooiger, gio, heitinga are reliable. Ok I agree on that, but against whom they are reliable? I think against luca Toni like players they are reliable. I can see players like Torres, Messi, CR9, and Defoe will tear them.
4. We don’t have a pinch hitter now in orange. I think we may require that in some tough physical matches in WC.
5. You will never see player like kuyt in five times champion Brazil team, even in an Italian team you wont see such kind of a player.
6. BVM should try Babel and Wolfswinkel as central strikers in the coming matches.if they fail we fix our central stiker position with vanpersie for first three matches.(we don’t have to test vanpersie in central striker position he has already proved that).
7. We don’t have to worry about the benching of Znijder, Roban, Persie, Vaart, Nestel, and Edwin and de jong. They all are proven match winners. So let us hope all of them don’t get injury at the time of the world cup.
8. Let us hope players like Deguzman and castelen reach their peak at the time of wolrdcup. Why I love this players because they are all(kuyt+Trickeries+Skills).if they are fit they are capable of giving a good contribution in orange success. But poor guys recurrent injuries are hunting them.
9. I don’t expect anything from Afeleey; this guy may waste one spot in orange. I will prefer kuyt over him.
10. I think BVM is going to spoil a talented generation again.
11. I am damn sure if we are losing in WC,it will be because of Vanbommel,Ooiger,Gio,Heitinga,Kuyt(if he play as central striker),May be stekelenburg. And ultimately the failed tactics of BVM.
12. BVM doesn’t have any quick solution for an immediate and unpredictable issue.
We scored very less no of goals(17) in QC of SA2010.this is absolutely a bad sign.

Tiju:

And how about something positive?.

By Tiju | November 11th, 2009 at 2:37 am
Top

My positive cents
We the orange has some superb world-class players now.
In terms of skill, trickery and brilliance they are head and shoulder above the last generation.
Every other will fear us (Especially our brilliant attack)
Mentalities of some players are positive like RVP, Znijder, Bula, and Schaars etc.
Roben, RVP, Znijder, Vaart, Elia, Mathjenson, dejong are the trump cards of us now.
But players like de saaw, schaars, Maduro, Bauma, Vlaar, Loovens, Van derweil, emmauelson, wolfswinkel also could join this group.
But over all I see more negatives than positives…that is why this team failed in EC08 and WC2006.
But I wish all the luck for BVM and party.
But mark my words players like Ooiger, gio, vanbommel, and heitinga are going to give scary moments for us. I am damn sure about this.

@Alaa sitting in india( a cricketing mad country)it is difficult to follow the redivise players continuosly). He is not that skill full, but his work rate is highly apreciable(we need that).I would say a better version of sim de jong.

Wout Brama, Theo Janssen and Ron Stam and possibly Douglas are/were mentioned more often since Twente is doing outstanding, but there’s been another player that did astonishingly well, someone who I’d written off; none other than Dwight Tiendalli as a leftwingback has been playing really good both defensively as well as attacking. I was amazed when I saw him in Twente-Ajax. He never made it for Feyenoord, but he seems back to the topform with which he won the U-21 EC and got himself into the tournament XI. Amazing how things can turn, pretty remarkable. If he keeps this up for the rest of the season, Braafheid and Gio better step up.

Right on Alex. Tiendali was good! He’s got the same sort of style as Van der Wiel, but at Feyenoord apparently he lost it mentally… He did do well with the U21’s and he might be at the right club now. Feyenoord and Ajax can be harsh environments for sensitive players.

Douglas – on Ajax’ wish list – is a Brazilian player though…

He is Brazilian, but there are/were thoughts of possibly giving him a Dutch passport, so.

Douglas at Ajax would be superb. Right now our weak positions are left back, right mid, and striker (although pantelic is slowly but surely improving…).

I think all our other positions are very strong.

ajax should buy ruiz and douglas then sell them in the same window outside of holland

thus crushing twentes campaign and gifting them the eredivisie!!

of coarse this is a joke

I am a positive person. We shouldn’t focus on individuals just look at Madrid they have maybe the best squad when it comes to names but they simply don’t gel as a team. Brazil had the best team in 2006 and were sent off by an old France team and in the other hand look at what Greece accomplished in EC 2004 with an OK squad but the main reason they had success was because they fought like lions every match and were focused every 90 minutes for the seven games they played.

About Schaars I think he still has it but AZ is doing really bad. If he played next to De Zeeuw, Bommel, Nigel we would be able to see his full potential. Against Arsenal he didn’t do much but I say some glimpses of his brilliance I hope he goes to my fave team Ajax haha.

@ Alex: To be fair, 5 (good) games don’t tell the story about Tiendalli, but I don’t disagree that it has been indeed quite a comeback. He was a highly-rated RB back on his days at Feyenoord, and now is makeover LB at Twente. I was actually hoping too see more actions for Nicky Kuiper (who is also Oranje U21 left-back), but I guess Tiendalli is able to hang on to the spot.

@Tiju: Please do tell how and when Van Bommel has done wrong for Oranje. In my view, Van Bommel – De Jong combo is probably one of the few things that Van Marwijk has gotten right in his tenure. It is by no coincidence that the two are undeniably the most consistent performers under Van Marwijk (I should add Mathijsen also to that group). And Afellay is a waste of spot in Oranje?!? Is this supposed to be a joke? May I ask how often you see Afellay, or PSV, in action? This guy is on the brink of something special, and I do hope WC2010 is Afellay’s road to stardom.

@ Naranja
the only reason france beat brazil was because the coach decided to play geezers like cafu, ronaldo, carlos instead of adriano, robinho, maicon, and cicinho.
