I almost forgot!

Can you believe that I almost forgot to post a little something about Ruud this week? He aboslutely starred in Madrid’s friendly against a team which I can’t recall on Wednesday. What I do remember is that Ruud scored two goals and was absolutely his old self again. Considering that, I’m surprised he hasn’t gotten more notice from Marco van Basten. The only thing I can think of is that van Basten really really really wants to focus on the future.

Here’s the whole squad for the qualifiers against Luxembourg and Belarus.

Keeper:Edwin van der Sar (Manchester United), Henk Timmer (Feyenoord)

Defense:
Khalid Boulahrouz (Chelsea), Joris Mathijsen (HSV), Giovanni van Bronckhorst (Barcelona), Tim de Cler (AZ), Urby Emanuelson (Ajax), John Heitinga (Ajax), Kew Jaliens (AZ), Andre Ooijer (Blackburn Rovers)

Midfield:Theo Janssen (Vitesse), Nigel de Jong (HSV), Denny Landzaat (Wigan Athletic), Stijn Schaars (AZ), Wesley Sneijder (Ajax), Rafael van der Vaart (HSV)

Forward:Ryan Babel (Ajax), Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (Ajax), Dirk Kuyt (Liverpool), Martijn Meerdink (AZ), Robin van Persie (Arsenal), Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink (Celtic)

Lastly Joris Mathijsen moved to HSV this week as a replacement for the dearly departed Cannibal. It seems that Hamburg wasn’t about to leave a whole in their defense and were prepared to begin life without Khalid as soon as the door swung shut on him.

That’s right. I’m a little worried about Robben. He missed the last match against Middlesbrough and will likely miss their next match. I had hoped he would recover in time for Luxembourg but I guess van Basten doesn’t want to take that chance.

I got the chance to see Dirk Kuyt’s debut for Liverpool. He got almost 40 minutes and was excellent. His work rate was excellent and created some decent chances. He couldn’t finish though and I almost expect him to start their next match.

Vennegoor of Hesselink has scored on his debut for Celtic to give them the lead against Brown.

im positive and uplifted by some of our dutch players in the big leagues.. Mike, kuyt was magnificent.. he seems to be very well in tuned with gerrard and bellamy, the passes between them yesterday were really promising. Although arsenal lost, i think VP was also sharp but unlucky..
im waiting to see if boulahrouz will start today for chealsea, but most of all am waiting to see ruud play for real.. I used to hate real, somehow feelings are changing now hehe due to latest developments..

dont u guys realize that most of our players play much better for their teams than for holland???
I’ve realized that yesterday with kuyt and also with landzaat in his opening fixture, also the same goes for rafael..
