HSV wants Marco van Basten

January 20th, 2008 | By: Jan | 8 Comments »

“HSV is an interesting club, with a lot of potential, a great history and very professional people…” This is what Van Basten said in Bild am Sonntag with regards to the fact he is the number 1 candidate for the job that Huub Stevens will leave vacant if he moves to PSV later this year.

Apparently Stevens is in Holland now with the club management to talk to candidates. Martin Jol is also on the hit list.

“I don’t know what will happen, it’s too early to tell,” ended Van Basten his comment.

Other than that: the Dutch top clubs have trouble gathering their points. Feyenoord lost, AZ lost, Ajax drew, PSV drew…who wants to be champs this season??? Oh…maybe FC Twente?

The Fred Rutten managed club from the eastern province in Holland is playing great football and they get the results. Which prompted Ajax to see if Orlando Engelaar – the former Feyenoord-talent – and fresh Oranje international was interested to move to Amsterdam. “For the right price we will let him go” the Twente management quipped. Engelaar would love to though and he plays even better football with the interest from Amsterdam.
FC Twente is closing in on the top 3 in the competition…

In Spain, Ruud scored again…but…is that really news…?

@goose: we’ve seen Marco’s lack of experience, do you think it’d be good for Ajax if he coached the team?. I wouldn’t like him to be the coach, I don’t want him to ruin the younger players.

If he went to HSV, he’d also be ruining a lot of young players, like van der Vaart, Castelen and de Jong, and they’re just from the dutch ones.

next year van der vaart won’t be there. castelen is talented but honestly i don’t think that there is anything to ruin on de jong…

hahaha.. can only agree with ferenc on deJong! haha .. but yes; vdVaart will be gone for sure, Valencia or Real are my best guesses (but who cares)..still think Castelen could be a great player for Oranje, if only cause hes a real right winger…if only he could be like Overmars, .. Ruud will do the rest!

@Miquel; well, on the hand hand i dont like Ajax so i dont really care if they dont do well, but as an Oranje fan, ajax (esp. the youth) are importent to me, we cant deny that a great deal of great Oranje players were ‘born’at Ajax…. but me best guess is that Ajax wants him, they now have Adri Koster, who is a great manager but who isnt really good in pr and who has no big name in football, seems like the latter really matters to the teams nowadays

Well, you never know, Marco van Basten might be a great club coach. I think HSV could be a good club to begin with because they seem to have good patience with people.
