In the defense of Twente, Groningen and Heerenveen - all of them has got destroyed during the summer. Twente lost several key players; both their wingers (Touma went to the bench in Borussia Mönchengladbach and Kennedy to Ajax). Groningen lost Luis Suarez and although Berg is a class player he isnt as good as Suarez. Heerenveen lost their leaders, Paul Bosvelt and Petter Hansson, plus several other players.

Anyone else notice that the huge number of goals given up by the Nederlandse teams? Oranje weakness right now - where's the back line - and the Eriedivisie teams get knocked out by giving up 5, 3 goals.

No matter how much Aanval, how much attack you can generate by beautiful flowing voetbal, you just can't win and let the other team knock that many in.

Looks like KNVB should put on some effort into defense.

Lastly, still think that the Eriedivisie should merge with Belgie. Play a few more games with Anderlecht, Brugge and Standard. Not to mention that the Flanders' demographics could bring some more Euros in to teams' coffers.
