Henk Kesler: penguins instead of referees!
The KNVB thinks the new plan of the Eredivisie clubs, who want to strip the play-offs, are rubbish.
Director Henk Kesler vetoed the new plan. “What rests is a weak residu of the original plan with as a consolation prize a UEFA Cup ticket. The KNVB will not adopt this proposal.”
The fact that all the clubs want this doesn’t change Kesler’s opinion. “The clubs may all want this, but that doesn’t mean we need to follow their ideas. Next time, the clubs want to replace the referees by penguins. Doesn’t mean we will need to adopt that plan.”
The KNVB wants to have proper discussions with the clubs on adaptation of the play-offs. “I want to have a definite decision by August 1. But I expect we’ll have clarity before the EC this summer.”
