Help Ruud out

So its only a matter of time until we find out that Ruud has been given the boot.

I have no doubt that Ruud reads this site; lets give him some career advice. Where should he go? Fergie has said that he wouldn’t let him go to a Premiership side but if the moneys right he would change his tune I expect. So where and why? Try to give a good reason for your choice. This will be a big change for our beloved goal-fiend and we can’t expect him to listen just because we said so.

The vulters are swarming already: Newcastle(not likely), Atletico Madrid, Liverpool(!?!?!?)

Whatever happens, I’ll always be a fan…provided he doesn’t go to Liverpool. Now check out this face-melting wallpaper for your desktop.

Feel free to throw up links of other transfer speculation if you find them.

Update: Here’s more on the Atletico rumour. That’s a disgustingly high evaluation of Torres if you ask me.

I’d love it if he would go to tottenham. They need to get someone up there with keane and their midfield is deep enough that they could give up carrick and some money for him

Someone after my own heart. Would Tottenham have the money to make Sir Alex go back on his “no Premiership” promise though even with Carrick?

Firstly, most commentators are acting as if leaving MUFC is the worst thing that can happen to a player. It ain’t — ask David Beckham. Ruud is a smart guy, by walking out he was effectively handing in his resignation, and he knew that when walked.

Secondly, whither now? Tottenham would’ve been great, for both parties, but if there are other options that include Champions’ League football, then it won’t be them. PSV may be interested and can offer the European challenge, but I suspect RvN would rather play in England (tho’ Alex Ferg has ruled out selling to an English club), Spain or Italy. One of your links mentioned a possible swap deal for Fernando Torres, but Atletico are not even in the UEFA Cup, so not the right move for Ruud. AC Milan have been touted. I don’t know how old Shevchenko and Inzagi are, nor what kind of depth they have in their squad but that sounds like the one.

Barcalona is another good option, with Henrik Larson going back to sweden, they need another striker.

Either way. He should wait until after June to make up his mind. It’s much easier to decide with a World Cup Gold Medal in your pocket…

Daniel — you beat me to it! I was just coming back to say that he’ll have plenty of options having lifted the trophy and picked up the Golden Boot on the way.

Daniel, I dig your site. Good stuff.

Barcelona is good choice too…I hadn’t considered them.

And Rik, as far as depth at AC Milan goes they’re doing well. The problem is that two-thirds of the squad could keel over and die of old age at any moment. AC Milan seems like a sinking ship. It’s a beautiful ship and is sinking slowly but its sinking regardless.

Sheva is 29 at the moment – same as Ruud. I don’t know if he’d be a good fit for Italy. I guess I would just love to see him at Barca under Frank Rijkaard.

I would take a wild guess and say psv or tottenham. I would ofcourse prefer psv, since im a fan, and wouldnt mind seeing another dutch team lift the trophy. Anyway, it is his choice, and i dont really care where he turns out, im a great fan, and always will be. Hup Nederland!

Barca would be fantastic. Valid too that with Hendrik Larrson going there may be a space. Ronaldinho-RvN-Messi starts to sound like my fantasy league team. Just can’t see Barca demoting Eto’o, nor Ruud taking Larrson’s place as second choice/bench striker. They also have Guilly (sp?) who looked good in the CL.

Real Madrid perhaps? They’re in transition, and there’s the Beckham connection …
