Heerenveen striker Alvez in Brazilian Selection
Dutch topscorer Alvez, playing for Heerenveen, is selected by Brazilian team manager Dunga to join the Canaries! The prolific striker – who is on several wishlists in Europe – made his mark in his first season at Heerenveen. How long will we be able to enjoy this extraordinary talent in Holland?
And on another note… How come Heerenveen has been so tremendously successful with their strikers in the last years???
Samaras, Jon Dhal Tomasson, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Allback, Klaas Jan Huntelaar, Alvez, Piet Keur, Eric Regtop, Igor Korneev?
Somebody in Heerenveen is paying attention…

Who thought that when he signed to Örgryte in Sweden some years ago..

well, will still have to see if this wasnt a one-year-thing…seem to remember that he scored no more than 14 a season in Sweden… al the big clubs had a look but they were all not convinced.. except Heereveen who have this special bond with Scandinavia and scandinavian based players (Hansson, Nilsson, Poulsen etc.)
the big man when it comes to scouting for Heerenveen is Riemer van der Velde, the old boss of the club…he left a few years ago but still looks at almost every game in Sweden, Norway,Finland and Danmark (together with his wife Annie), Heereveen is a very strong club, good structure, intelligent people within the organisation.. Feyenoord should take a close look at this club!!

Interesting insights guys… How old is this Alvez? And Poulsen, is that the same Poulsen who plays for Sevilla? I was impressed with him…

But there is some large differences Goose. In Sweden, Afonso couldnt justify himself since the teams play very slow and defensive. His attacking team mates were about 100 times worse than them in Heerenveen while the defenders in the both countries is kind of equal. The difference is Heerenveens style of playing and his very competent team mates.
Afonso is 26, but can still develop if he keeps finding new challenges.
