Happy New Year!

2006 lies behind us… The year of expectations, after impressive results in the WC qualifications (but not that impressive play)… The year in which San Marco was demoted to the inconsistent, untrustworthy, egotistical $%^& van Basten… The Man with the Golden Dick lost his glare in that German summer… Where Klinsmann stole his thunder, van Bommel was humiliated and van Nistelrooy totally ignored. Where van Persie and Robben showed flashes of brilliance, Boulah earned his Chelsea transfer and Sneijder and Van der Vaart weren’t able to meet the expectations.

We lost against Portugal, thanks to bad refereeing, thanks to dire misses by Cocu van Van Persie and bad judgements by coach van Basten. But mainly thanks to the fact that Portugal scored a goal, and we didn’t…

It was not a WC to be proud of, in general. Australia deserved more but were bamboozled by operatic drama queen behaviour of the Italians. England failed, Brazil and Argentina took early flights back home and the revelation of the tournament were…..yes, truly….the Germans!

But, the year ended on a high note…. Clarence back in Oranje!
