Great Dutch team site…mostly

Next to this site the Dutch team page on Skysports.com is among the best. I encourage you to visit the site, click on the sponsors and give them money. Take a look at the trivia game and crossword. Both are specific to the Dutch team and are great fun even if they’re a bit tough at times.

The only curious bit is their choice for the probable starting eleven. Not only did they get the famed Dutch 4-3-3 formation wrong they also included Sneijder and Heitinga in their eleven. Good for them and their site but the lack of knowledge of team tactics is a little disappointing.

What could be the starting eleven for the world cup?

I’m assuming
Van der Sar
Kromkamp-Opdam-Boulahrouz-Van Bronckhorst
Landzaat-Cocu-Van der Vaart
Kuyt-Van Nistelrooy-Robben

But what about De Jong, Vlaar, Mathijsen, Sneijder, Maduro, Van Bommel, Van Persie, Babel… Could they (or someone else) be in the team?

Give me your toughts, please…

Well, I rarely read something about other national squad, but as I’m an Ajax supporter and Cruijff’s fan, I love dutch football! In my opinion it’s the only country (beside of Argentina) that can be compared to Brazil when we talk about the more regulars teams of the world and the country that shows at least 2 or 3 great players to the world every year!

And viulo, i agree with you: that will surely be the starting eleven that will play in the WC.

Your choice could be 100% similar to Bastens’ 11 although I personally don’t want Lanzaart in the team.
Pity for those professional from Skysports. Boulahrouz-LB, Scenijder-winger, Dutch plays 442?????

I don’t think you’re far off viulo, but I agree with sphinx. Landzaat will probably be in the squad but starting will be van Bommel.

Help select the squad that will go to Germany beginning with the keepers
