Gio back to Feyenoord Rotterdam?
It seems the 32 years old Giovanni van Bronckhorst contemplates leaving Barcelona CF, although is has an ongoing contract with the European champs.
“I’ve been living this football pro life for quite some time now and it’s the training camps in particular that get to me,” Oranje’s left back admitted. “I feel it’s time to think of my family now. I have two young sons, I want to spend more time with them. I’ve lived a full football life in Europe and Holland is looking really attractive again.”
Gio admits that not being a regular starter at Rijkaard’s team is a factor too. “Of course, once you notice that you are not longer The Man for a certain position, it’s even harder to cope with the disadvantages of this life.”
Recently, Van Bronckhorst told he’d like to come back to the club where it all began for him. He is in constant communication with management and coach Erwin Koeman at Feyenoord, who have a similar role in mind for him as Rijkaard’s when he returned to Ajax in 1995 or like Cocu at PSV.”
Still, Feyenoord fans are a bit worried after Henk Ten Cate of Ajax and Ronald Koeman of PSV declared they’d also like to hire Gio’s services. “Henk ten Cate has worked with Gio at Barca and he really likes him to come to Amsterdam,” stated Gio’s manager Sigi Lens. “And PSV fears that Cocu will call it a day after this season, and Gio is on the top of their wishlist to replace the veteran.”

Me too. I can’t see him go to Ajax or PSV… wouldn’t sit well with the Feyenoord fans
