Frank Lampard loves Hiddink already…

Look, Hiddink taught us the Vogeltjesdans!!

Lampard! Pay attention… This is how you do it!!

The Secret of Hiddink… This is what they call it in England. But the secret is no secret. Guus Hiddink is a great people manager. He doesn’t take himself to seriously (media, fans and players enjoy that), he has the empathy to understand what players go through and gives them what they need. Some need a hug, a touch, others need to be put down or challenged. He’s pragmatic and has a down to earth way of looking at things.

Ask Frank Lampard. The midfielder of Chelsea can ben seen as the symbol of the club. What Gerrard is for Liverpool, Raul for Barcelona and Del Piero for Juventus…

The midfielder is the best scoring midfielder in the history of the club, with 80 goals in four seasons and the absolute leader of the pack, on and off the pitch.

Guus Hiddink won his first match with Chelsea and Lampard last Saturday. After the game, Lampard gives Hiddink all the praise. The Dutchman impressed in London with his training sessions and individual talks.

Everything the coach wanted to see in the game was delivered… The fans were ecstatic and the BBC commentator said Chelsea oozes class with Hiddink on the bench. After the win, the Chelsea players organized a spontaneous party on the pitch. Lampard gives Hiddink the credits.

Why are you so happy with Guus Hiddink?
Lampard: “Because you can immediately see the old Chelsea again. In the first session, Hiddink said he wanted to see the ball pace go up, he wants us to play adventurous and dominating football and he is very clear about the organization. The vibe was great this week. Everyone enjoyed his training sessions. The club got a massive quality injection and you could see this immediately in the game too. Everyone feels indestructable, suddenly.”

He comes across as moody and serious…
“He’s very serious, but he also has a wicked sense of humor. I never met him before, never worked with him and was curious about his touch. His intense, serious approach is exactly what we needed. He can up our game. And he knows exactly how to handle the individual players. He has the top coach aura about him. When he first stepped, in you actually feel the anxiety. He’s imposing. But when he talks, everybody relaxes. He doesn’t say a lot, mind you, but it all makes sense. I am very impressed with him.”

Is he your typical Dutch trainer?
“What would that be, then? A coach who attacks but forgets the result, haha? I always watched the Dutch team play, but I was more focused on their great players and never on their tactics or system… But listen, when you watch any team play coached by Hiddink, like Russia now, you see a smart, adept and prepared team. He’s a top coach. Russia plays great football and that what he wants us to do too.”

One floor up, Hiddink is being questioned about his midfielder. Hiddink says how he feared Lampard in the Russia-England meetings. “He’s a tremendous player. Individually, but also for the team. But now I see he’s even more than that. Off pitch, he’s a true leader. With Terry, he guards the Chelsea culture. That’s very potent.”

“You,” Hiddink points at the press, “have good saying for it… Frankie is a good lad.”

Indeed, if you would have to point out someone for whom the term doushbag was invented, it would have to be him. He looks well over 100 years old and still he won’t give up his job, although i hardly see him contributing anything. All he does is bitch about and stop some real progression in football.

@ goose, :) ..the rest of the portugal team, lol

@Sonneveld: Maniche is a very good shout. Actually all those Portuguese wankers should all be on that list. Just like Goose has it.

everyone seems to forget the left goalpost from 1978, and Gerd Muller i think that should be our number 1 and 2 on the hatelist.

Haha, my hated list is exactly the same as Goose’s top 5, probably even in the same order!
1.Totti (by a mile)
2.Zlatan
3.Ronaldo the handbag
4. Figo
5. the rest of the portugal team

As for Lampard, I actually like the guy – I think it’s mostly residual from when I used to watch Chelsea regularly, before the team was taken over by “the special one” and they turned into a pack of douchebags. Back in the days when Robben was there. In those days Lampard was a great player and seemed like a good guy. I think he’s probably still a good player but I don’t watch Chelsea anymore…

I think in the All Hated German list there should be a spot for Oliver Kahn as well as Jens Lehmann.

I mean what happened to German goalies after Sepp Maier retired? Schumacher, Kahn, Lehman…..Hmmm, who would you rather go having a beer with? EVDS or any of those fools?

@caleb ; agree on Lampard, always liked the guy

@finn; true ; but to be honest ; always like it more to see a german defend than attack!! hahaha

i cant think of any german goalie who wasnt a total madman but Schumacher with his ‘porn – head’ will always be top of my list!

why were neither sneijder or van der vaart introduced. With babel, kuyt benayoun on liverpool were creating nothing but he still left both off. Instead he put on Guti wich is even worse news. Huntelaar is looking better off in madrid then sneijder right now.

3 or 4 dutch guys should leave madrid this summer. too bad for oranje that they are almost always sitting on the bench. with the quality of sneijder, vdv… only robben and rvn should stay there. they are indispensable. the others not.

Henk Kesler should get a nod too :-) .

Oh, and Goose… Kuyt is very popular on this blog – I love the guy – but I was making fun of Tiju, of course. Who appears to not like Dirkie that much :-) .

I wrote a venomous article just now on the Real – Pool game. I love Liverpool but was so annoyed with Real Madrid. I couldn’t help myself. Firstly, the idiocracy of Ramos (who calls his kid Juande anyway??) to fortify midfield against Liverpool at home??? Leaving Wesley out and putting Marcello in (huh?) and Diarra (WHAT?) and Gago…

Unbelievable! What an appalling player that Diarra. They compare him with Makelele! Well, they should never have let him go! The difference between the two, you ask? Apart from age, Makelele would repossess the ball and pass it to a better player. Diarra repossess and starts running as an idiot with the ball until he’s blocked by an opponent, whom he will then break in half. I like Pepe as a defender, but he should touch the ball twice. Once he has the ball, pass the mother!! And Heinze doesn’t belong in the Madrid shirt.

I though Dirk played a great game. Robben had his moments, but other than that, Real Madrid was shite!

Jan – no one comment because probably many can not see Guus’s leg raised and he realyy is doing “The Bird” dance….. maybe they don’t understand Vogeltjes dance :)
I thought Pool deserved the win, they played better RM was shocking and Diarra probably his worst game since joining. As for Ramos ..I Juanda what he’ll do on the weekend ? All 5 Dutchies in ???

How do you apply for a job at KNVB?

It seems to be the only job in this economic climate where performance does not matter, hard work and an honest effort does not make a difference, and being arrogant and ignorant seems to be the most important part of your resume.

Wow, what is going on with all these ‘pool fans on this board?? You guys actually think that Liverpool played better than Real Madrid?? It was a tight game to be sure, but the team that created more chances and had the ball more was Real, not Liverpool! I can understand it from Ferenc because he hates Real with a burning passion, but I thought the rest of you would be a little less biased. Liverpool shut down Real most of the time, but hardly created anything of their own. You guys were lucky to get that free kick (Heinze the idiot), and lucky to get that goal, and you guys should know that.

As for how Sneijder should leave Real, I think that’s pushing it. He’s just out of form at the moment, but I don’t think anyone’s worried about him not making it back into the team.

Oh yeah, about the caption – I chuckled. I didn’t know what the Vogeltjesdans dance was, but I still thought it was funny. After seeing Goose’s video, I realize that I do know that dance, just not the Dutch name for it. We call it the “chicken dance” over here.

@Caleb: Liverpool had them all sorted mate. How would you play Real away from home? How about the Gunners vs the Reds in the next round? That would be fun :-)

Hi Caleb, I am a Liverpool man and a Real Madrid man. But how’bout this: I am also a Man United fan, an Arsenal fan, a Barca fan…. I don’t know why. I just love teams that play exciting football! When Real plays Pool, I hope the best team on the night wins. Before the game, I actually wanted Real to do well, because of Robben and Co. During the game I got so depressed due to the weak performance and senseless play (and coaching) that I started to favour Pool. I though Kuyt played a tremendous game, I like Benayoun and Riera is an interesting players as well. So, yeah… When Liverpool did it again, I thought: well done lads. At the end of the day, you gotta say Pool did well.
