France - Oranje 1-4… Where does one start?

This is only minutes after the game and I am still hyperventilating!
Where does one start?
Well, let’s start with the French, ok? I feel for them. I think they played a good match and were really really unlucky. Let’s face it. Of course, I am happy and proud our boys qualified already. I think the way Robben and Sneijder put those balls away deserves our awe, but…
France put us on the back foot. Created heaps of opps (thanks Sar!) and deserved a penalty for Ooijer’s handling of the ball. True: it was ball to hand, and certainly not intentional, but it would have been a goal if he didn’t had his arm there and I believe according to the rules: penalty.
Henry missed a huge opportunity (lob) when the score was 1-0 so this game could have been… 4-1 for France…
But…it isn’t.
So, my respect and condolences to the French and although Oranje wasn’t as dominant as the Italy match, we were lethal in the turnaround and with so many attacking options and goal scoring qualities, who needs a good back four
?
I’ll post a decent match review later (got to find my oxygen machine) but my first analysis goes like this:
1. We were lucky to score the first goal this quick. Great corner kick (Van der Vaart), expert timing (Kuyt) and horrible defending (Coupet, Malouda and Henry).
2. Ooijer, Boulah, De Jong were fantastic! I wasn’t too happy with Ooijer against Italy but he was superstrong with his interferences in the first half.
3. Engelaar played like he is an FC Twente player… Oh, hang on…he is…
4. Van der Sar and lacklustre finishing by the French kept us in the game.
5. Marco van Basten deserves all our respect for his gutsy tactics.
6. Robben was very good but not great… Needs a bit more eye for his team mates.
7. Ruud van Nistelrooy was outstanding and can suddenly do all those funky tricks!
8. With this luck, these refs and those first goals, who is gonna stop Oranje?!??!!!?????

Hmm…maybe… That situation on the right wing was when the score was 1-0…But maybe I should stop scrutinizing. The man’s strength is his ability to take opponents on and it doesn’t always work, so…

@Franco Rossi:
Just because people aren’t white guys, they can’t be true fan of Dutch soccer team?
I think you forget the team still has some of those ‘curry eating asian glory hunters who seem to equate themselves as real dutch here’ for instance like Bronckhorst. I also believe Boularouz en Jong aren’t white.
(And many more in the past).
Just my 2 cents as a ‘fake/not white’ Dutch fan cheering every match for Oranje since World Cup 1994 till this Europe Cup 2008.

My favourite part of the match was when Kuyt scored and made Malouda look like the little girl he is! He just shoved Malouda aside like a rag doll and scored a great header. By the way, I don’t really like Malouda
My other 2 cents: De Jong played brilliantly, RVN played a great match although average fans might not recognize it - I do wish he had gotten a goal or two though… that looping header was great! San Marco had huge balls to make the substitutions he did, and they worked out great. Great game!

Franco; what the f are on about?? if you cant write in english than just dont write… please
as for your ‘curry-eating’comment; as a ‘real, white ‘dutch guy i take offense to your comment…i like all the foreign fans who love Oranje and with many of them i have had great talks about Oranje on this blog…these people can be proud of Oranje the same as me..
i suggest you go away and leave us whites and curry-eating asians alone!
@Caleb; deJong has been the revelation for me…he has played brilliant, i never thought i would ever say that about deJong but im so very impressed
my fav. part was the Robben goal and esp. the moment it was scored; it was than when i realised the footie-Gods are with us…you could see the frensh fall apart before your eyes…GREAT

Gents,
Let’s cool down and don’t let comments (or misunderstanding) ruin our celebratory mood ….
@Franco Rossi, I’m not Dutch but I’ve been supporting the Oranje since I was a boy growing up in Asia (unfortunately I don’t enjoy curry much), I cried when Holland lost to Argentina in 1978 final and I was not even 7 years old. Later on, I worked for a Dutch bank, made friends with some Dutch people whom I’m still in touch till today. Been following the team practically in every EURO and World Cup that the Oranje was in up till today.
I do get a lot of “wtf” look from most people when they learn that I’m supporting the Oranje, actually since I’ve been living in the US for the last 14 years or so, the “wtf” look is even more apparent.
Only Dutch people will understand. I was on vacation in Australia and was wearing 2006 World Cup official Oranje jersey with my fav. player “de Boer #4″ imprinted at the back, a guy approached me and started to asked me out of the blue, “Frank or Ronald”? ….. then actually “tested” me about Oranje questions. After I passed with flying color (according to his standards, I’m not a “glory hunter”), he told me he’s Dutch and invited me to the bar he owns. That’s the characteristic of most Dutch people that I know and love.
My Romanian wife always calls me “a Dutch wannabe” since I always refer to the Oranje as “we” when we talk …. (who doesn’t want to be a Dutch with 6-8 week vacation/year?). No hard feeling, but we both will take a day off next Tue to see Oranje vs Romania ….. it’s war in my household.
I meant, I’m proud of my (non-Dutch) heritage but I think I love the Oranje as much as “real white or non-white Dutch” do.
And as said in this article, the Swiss are now also turning into “Dutch wannabes”. It’s a beautiful thing …
BERNE, June 14 (Reuters) - Switzerland’s early exit from Euro 2008 has had little effect on the mood in the Swiss capital Berne—many locals have simply switched allegiances to Netherlands.
Friday’s emphatic 4-1 win by the Dutch over France was watched by a boisterous crowd of around 150,000 people crammed into a city with less than 130,000 residents.
But organisers said on Saturday that almost half the supporters clad in the team’s distinctive orange colours were actually Swiss in Dutch clothing.
“With the help of our Dutch fan representatives we estimated that there were about 100,000 people wearing orange in the city last night,” Berne’s tournament director Marcel Bruelhart told reporters.
“We reckoned that around 60,000 of those were Dutch and the others were Swiss many of whom had come from outside of Berne just to experience the Dutch party. It is quite a new thing to see the Swiss reacting so spontaneously.” ……….

@Franco, do you wear a brown shirt a lot too by any chance? This is the most racist drivel I have read on this blog. So you can only support Italy or Oranje if you were born in the respective countries? Interesting. As you can see, we don’t shoot our own fans on their way to games like you do in Italy.
“Giving the game away to Romania”? Are you kidding me? The only three countries that I can remember having corruption issues or buying referees are Italy (and half your team played on those clubs), Portugal and German 2nd Division, which coincidentally are my three least favorite teams in the World. Hmmmm, Oh, I forgot, Albania, but they are all Italians in the making and providing your mafia with some wonderful new recruits.
Yes, Marco will rest players, especially those with knocks and yellow cards, but so would Donadoni and Domenech and any other coach with a brains. But just like most Oranje fans, nothing would please me more than putting Italy and France back home on the bus on Tuesday!!
Friendly banter is fine. Racist stuff is not, and moreover has no place on this blog or elsewhere. If you don’t like Asians, do yourself a favor and leave Palermo for a few days and travel there. You will meet many wonderful people.

no, finnster, racist stuff is not fine. i hope YOU keep that in mind.

@Franco; whats the matter with you? im sure your dissapointed but please…
‘inflict misery??’, you just be glad we dutch pay for your shit economy/farmers staying somewhat alive
and everybody knows italians are racist, its cause they know theyre not really white themselfs, haha
you people from the south are such bad loosers…you can stop crying now!

Franco’s being a racist. Finnster and Goose are being racists in return.
Franco: Oranje fans can be of any nationality. That’s like saying you can’t cheer for Barcelona if you’re not Catalan, or Arsenal if you’re not from North London. It doesn’t make any sense–those teams have worldwide appeal just as the Oranje do. So when the Oranje wins, the fans all rejoice–key word ‘all.’
Finnster & Goose–not all Italians are racist, and not all of them are corrupt either. To judge an entire country’s people on the actions of their government & other authorities is just ignorant, and to judge them on one fan (Franco) is just stupid.
All of you. Take care in your tone and get over yourselves.
Moving on to Holland–they’ll likely face Sweden in the quarters. Considering how Sweden held off Spain for a bit today, how do you think they will fare?

Wow, a racist from Italy… big surprise there. Almost as surprising as a sore-loser from Italy.
Jan, do we have to listen to anymore of his racist comments about mixed races and pure blood? Sounds a little bit too much like a certain German dictator for my liking…

@ Franco Rossi go kill yourself, i hope your not a catholic.
Italy have mix players too. Fabiano Santacroce, Matteo Ferrari, Fabio Liverani…. so F–k of.

@Franco:
“i have royal Eutracian/Roman blood, i have spotless white skin(like many up north), i have grey eyes and brown hair”
Yup; you do sound like a true asshole, or rather a royal asshole.
@ fellow Dutch people living abroad:
Anyone else have problems translating our credo? I mean: “Hup Hollan Hup, don’t let the Lion stand in his undershirt”
Kind of doesn’t really work in English ![]()

And they say girls bring all the drama! Who cares where our players come from they are still kicking ass and taking names. Nice to know some of those names belong to Royal Roman asses;) C’mon gents can we just get back to some game talk or do I have to start posting about how Van Persie is a million times more dreamier than Ronaldo to change subjects?

@Franco; you are truly mad!! who cares where these people have had their roots..theyre all 100% dutch, they see themselfs as dutch and are regarded as such
btw; surinam was not conquered but traded with the english for New York (in retrospect a brilliant move, esp. when it comes to football
now please your royal highness; GO AWAY RETARDED LITTLE PERSON!!

@Jess; dreamier?? what do you mean? he doesnt concentrate on the pitch?
btw; looks like Greece is out! YES!! what a crap team. its a shame they won the EC04..worst team to ever win, if i remember correct they scored 2 goals in their last 3 matches
so look likes the swedes or Guus will be our next

And I used to like Tuscany. Great art, food and cities, but looks like they have even greater arses and pompus farts unfortunately. Are you sure your mother didn’t come from Palermo?

Franco you give Spaniards a bad name. Maybe this is why they have continually lost and are called racists. I admit I am absolutely sure you are a pure blooded arse child. Maybe Someone is just giving you what you deserve. Spain won’t even face pass the quarterfinals. Italy, France, even Romania will show you up.

And Franco, that is why it is not too bad to live in a very integrated and multi cultural city like New York. Makes watching football with a bunch of Italians (and other nationalities) very fun. But I guess I am hanging out with the flops, losers, poor, and criminals that fled Italy. I have a good time though, and so would you if you had decided to come off your high horse and come over here and check for yourself. Our pizza is much better than yours anyway.
Don’t even get me started on who discovered America, because it certainly was none of your lot, and the first Italian to get here had to have Portugal buy his ticket in the first place. By the way, how’s your military doing? Still world retreating champions? What’s the world’s smallest book again, Oh now I remember, Italian war heroes.
Go blog your racist crap on your own blog. Besides, I am whiter than you pal, but I still like people from other colours and religion and I am proud of it.

….. another rant from an American..hey finnster, atleast i give the real white dutch some respect but u americans r pathetic..why??u dont have any heritage or culture or class..u are all the descendents of the flop, losers, poor, criminals whatever they r who fled from all the parts of the world to U ASS of A. USA is just an institution …..… my mother is from Carrara, about an hour´s drive from Florence and she is a pure italian and she has a great pure ancestory and i dont for a moment belive that u have one..i mean u could be the descendent of any social reject, an asian, an african….??????
iam sorry but i dont see americans as my equals….
****
Here I am thinking the guy was just miscommunicating and some of us just misunderstood what he wrote. What an @$$hole racist! I am Asian and I don’t feel lower or higher than any other race, news flash: the only social reject here is you because of your lack of intelligence (who cares if your mum is from Carrara or you have a white or green skin?)
And what’s up with the insult to the USA? inferiority complex, isn’t it?
I hope this site is moderated and offensive remarks would be taken down.
GO ORANJE!
–H
P.S.: Mauro Camoranesi, probably the only creative Italian player this year, was actually born in Argentina …. bet he doesn’t have a royal blood like you …. Punk!
–H

Franco Rossi take it easy, they’re just bugging you.

Jeez, can everybody stop ranting and just enjoy beautiful football in this tournament?!?!?

Let’s bury this discussion on race and colour guys. Why obther. Holland is enchanting the world, we should all be smoking dope, drinking beer, chasing gals on bikes, re-insuring our canal boats, eating sushi, tapas, pasta, noodles, gulash, sauerkraut and listen to Marvin Gay, Pavarotti or Ryuichi Sakamoto.
I see it like this: we live in one big global village. Some of us are black, some are brown, most are not regal, some of us are Asian, some descent from slaves, some from slave-owners… But whatever, Oranje rules the World and I hope we will all dress in orange, not matter what color of skin.

“whatever u gloat on, ur Orange has been our bunny for 30 years, so enjoy this moment of glory as long as u can.”
What’s up, Doc?
“Even if we dont qualify, i dont see ur team beating portugal.”
Care to enlighten me? Why not? It’s definitely possible. Holland, Spain and Portugal are pretty evenly matched, anything is possible between these three countries and so far, Holland has shown to be the most consistent out of these last two matches.
“i mean, against Italia, the first goal was a referee gift”
Maybe it was, but the ref is part of the game. But good thing you noticed. Engrave it into your memory, just like La Mano de Dios from Maradonna. Stuff of legends, eh?
“and it all went horribly wrong after that”
It sure did! eheh
“the counter attacks and other stuff”
Yeah.. Stuff.
Ironic to hear that, especially from an Italy fan. Hypocrite. Italians never score a countergoal, right? You’d be ecstatic if they would’ve leveled the score with 3 counters, stop complaining about how the goals were executed, all that matters is the ball in the back of the net. I mean, seriously, am I getting this right, an Italy fan who’s complaining how a team scores? I thought Italians prioritized results above fancy football, or am I wrong?
“it is not that dutch thrashed us like the scorecard says”
Agreed. You had your chances. Thing is, those chances need to be taken. We took 3 of them, you wasted them.
“it was PURE luck which wont happen again 99 times times, i can assure you.”
if if if
It might happen twice in a very short time span, but only if Italy wins against France and Spain and.. and..
if if if
“Also, for all the hype, you have not won a world cup”
..yet!
“that is out of yer reach..”
Again, care to enlighten me? This team doesn’t pale in comparison to Brazil, Italy or Argentina. Atm, we could take any team on (and you know it), just hope that will still be the case in two years time.
“UEFA is hell bent on showing italia the doors early”
lol, it’d be a first.. And about bloody time!
j/k
“as they say in my region, REVENGE TASTES VERY GOOD WHEN IT IS OLD..WE WILL REMEMBER TO INFLICT MISERY ON THE ORANGE IN THE FUTURE..”
We have a saying here too, it’s kinda similar: “(Donna)donkeys don’t hit their head on the same rock twice.”
We’ll be on our guard.
“enjoy ur honey moon”
Enjoy yours too.. lol
