Speaking of cry babies – Here’s an interesting question for all fans of Italian Football (both of them !)
Italy has 4 world cups – Countless great champion teams Juve,Milan etc.

Why is there no great Italian Footballer like a Cruyff, di Stefano, Best etc. Can anyone tell me of an Italian player that deserves to be up there with the best ? Then why do they win world cups ? (Don’t say it !!!)

Mazzola, Antognioni, Totti, Del Piero, Fachetti, Rivera, Nedved, Zidane, Van Basten, Gullit, Maradona, Krol… :-)

Nah, Carlos is right.

It’s tactics. Discipline. Organization.

Jan and Carlos is right although Dino Zoff is a good shout as is Roberto Baggio (Ballon d’or as well as world footballer of the year).

It’s all about tactics, discipline, organization and if I may add another one: Heart. Just watch the little hard-man Gattuso out there and you get what I mean.

Paolo Maldini is the greatest defender of all times. He’s up there.

@Lerkot: How could I forget about Maldini. :-) Hard to argue that, although he never won any tournament with Azurri.

Didn’t Maldini win anything with Italy?

I must say: Maldini and Baggio belong on the list of top 50 top players :-) .

Maybe Del Piero? Zoff? Scirea? The old chaps aren’t that bad either…
