Fly Away Kuyt?

April 7th, 2006 | By: Mike | 4 Comments »

In what is already a common phenomenon Dirk Kuyt is being courted by a number of clubs outside of the Netherlands. I suppose anyone who isn’t terribly short-sighted saw this coming. The Eredivisie seems to excel at producing young talent for the rest of the world. Maybe if a club like Ajax, PSV or Feyenoord held on to their players we might be looking at another dynasty like Ajax from the seventies.

Kuyt however is pure quality and would be a welcome addition to a half dozen Premiership sides who have struggled for consistent goal scoring. Were I Dirk’s agent I’d probably push him toward the youthful (and Dutch coached) Tottenham. Newcastle seems to be a black hole for talent. Look at Emre, Luque, Parker (depite some decent performances) , Boumsong and our own beloved Kluivert. I would not want to see a promising striker like Kuyt get sucked into the negative hoo-doo that seems to circle St. James’ Park.

I always appreciate the skill level of the players who come through the Dutch youth system and end up playing in other countries. Will be interesting to see where he lands.

Welcome to the WCB team, btw.

Cheers

My greatest wish is to see Kuyt landing in Anfield, Liverpool FC being my 2nd fav. team after the Oranje.

GO ORANJE and YOU’LL NEVER WALK ALONE look like a perfect fit!
