Eredivisie Wrap Up

The last day of matches in the Dutch Eredivisie was a good one for World Cup hopefuls. Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink had a brace and Cocu got one in PSV’s 6-2 win over NAC Breda. PSV had already clinched the title last week. Both Dirk Kuyt and former Dutch international Pierre Van Hooijdonk each got one in Feyenoord’s win over RBC Roosendaal. John Heitinga grabbed one and young phenom Klaas Jan Huntelaar got two for Ajax against RKC Waalwijk and ran out 4-2 winners. AZ Alkmaar also won to clinch second spot above Feyenoord and Ajax.

The league’s top scorer was Klaas Jan Huntelaar with 33 goals in 30 appearances with Heerenveen and then Ajax. Next was Georgian Shota Arveladze and Dirk Kuyt with 22 each.
