“Easy does it Mike” – van der Sar

May 4th, 2006 | By: Mike | No Comments »

van der SarIt would appear that Edwin van der Sar reads this site! After my comments yesterday about the certainty of Dutch glory an article pops up about an interview with keeper Edwin van der Sar asking him about the new team and his expectations. Obviously van der Sar is acting under direction from Marco van Basten who is trying to keep unnecessary pressure off of his squad. Message received Edwin and Marco, I’ll keep a lid on it.

With that said I’m going to immediately go back on the promise I made in that last sentence. Did anyone else notice how van der Sar described the team that lost out to Brazil in France? “In ‘98 that team had everything – experience, youth, good defending, good finishing.” I would say that the squad this time around has the same qualities. Exciting stuff. Who knows, if everything goes well I won’t have to break out the un-washed lucky orange boxer shorts.

Credit to Bob for pointing me towards the story; I was busy watching that dumb eagle waiting for it’s egg to hatch.
