Early Training Camp

Coaches Marco van Basten and John van ‘t Schip are having an early training camp for 17 players ahead of the squad deadline. Those players who still have club obligations have been excused. I should point out that Johnny Heitinga has been included in the camp even though he was left out of the provisional squad.

Here’s a list of those players attending:

Doel (2 spelers): Maarten Stekelenburg (Ajax) en Henk Timmer (AZ).

Verdediging (6 spelers): Tim de Cler (AZ), John Heitinga (Ajax), Kew Jaliens (AZ), Joris Mathijsen (AZ), André Ooijer (PSV) en Barry Opdam (AZ).

Middenveld (3 spelers): Phillip Cocu (PSV), Denny Landzaat (AZ) en Wesley Sneijder (Ajax).

Aanval (6 spelers): Ryan Babel (Ajax), Romeo Castelen (Feyenoord), Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (Ajax), Dirk Kuyt (Feyenoord), Arjen Robben (Chelsea) en Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink (PSV).

It’s interesting that Arjen Robben has been released by Chelsea even though they haven’t finished their season yet. Could be a sign of his departure…?
