Dutchies in the CL…

louis1

I’m sorry lads, I just haven’t see too much football this past midweek. Too busy with non-important stuff…

But I have seen some :-) .

I was totally impressed with Bayern Munich, and in particular: Louis van Gaal. This is how you do it. Allow a German team – the arch nemesis of Ajax from way back when – to play Total Football. Great.

Schweinsteiger was good the first half, but Mark van Bommel was the great leader, in a week inwhich he proclaimed he didn’t want to be a leader. Hah! Gotcha!

Hail Louis. This is Bayern’s turn around. Louis, Mark, Edson, Arjen and Franck will win the CL this season! I’m tellin’ ya.

Raf van der Vaart started for Madrid and like Wesley at Inter is still not totally understood. Not only does Raf have a killer pass (give all the balls to him, Lass!!) but he also makes smart little runs behind enemy lines. But no other player than Xabi Alonso understands how to give a through pass. And I saw a huge threat for Madrid and his name is…. C Ronaldo.

He was a great striker at Man United, but at Real Madrid they made him into a galactico. And C Ronaldo may be good, he’s no Figo, Zidane, Beckham, nor Vaart! What? Blasphemy you say? No way…

Listen and learn: C Ronaldo is no playmaker. His passing and crosses lack smarts and vision. He wants every ball and does his trickery and oversteps and ballet and cool shit, but it’s not always effective. I watched Rafael closely and many times he found space behind the defense and even so many times the ball didn’t come.

Sure C Ronaldo did score twice and will be the man of the match, but if you can head a ball or hit a setpiece doesn’t mean you can claim to be the dreh-und-angelpunkt in a team. He’s no Zidane, I’m telling ya.

Sneijder looked a tad rusty for Inter. He was out a while and although his touches showed his class he wasn’t as dominant as we – and he – would like to see it.

Barazite is still 19. He was injured with our U-21 team vs Finland, shoulder injury, he had to be operated. Will be back early 2010, cause they estimated 2-3 months for recovery. But he was brought back to Arsenal after loan periods to Derby County, did play in the Carling cup early this season. I think he could make his way into the squad if he makes some steps. He reminded me a bit of Zlatan.

You meant Marko Vejinovic, he changed his name from Matic. He went from AZ to Heracles Almelo, and has played something like half of their matches, still a talent, but questionable. Remarkable, despite spending a lot of money on their youth development, AZ hardly had any succesfull players breaking through from their academy, Kees Luijckx is the only youth product in their squad at the moment.

Seems like an ideal defender for the Porto striker Hulk.

I saw many clips of the 1954 Magyars and seriously they were equal in stature to 74 Oranje. Their mauling of England at Wembley (was it 5-1?) made the world take notice. Great team with Puskas. I think in the final Puskas was injured wasn’t he, but played anyway? Wow and Ferenc met him ? My only claim to fame was playing a round of golf with Bobby Charlton.

Carlos: it was 6-3 at wembley (november 1953). in the final he was injured but played. scored one goal and one more in the 89th minute but it was disallowed for a non-existant offside.

for this speed thing Eljero Elia in this video ran 51 km an hour look around the middle part http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BpWlsNRA7Hw

this hole thing sounds faulty to me, probably chose ronaldo because he is famous and would make the study famous

Now everybody starts hailing Vanbommel.Still i doubt his workrate thats it.Van bommel has to works his socks off, then only we will have any hope.
if he works like davids, then i will never replace him with desaaw. He has to improve his workrate for the good for the team.i hope he will do that.
I have an agrument with ferenc buddy.coz he tips spain first in attack.but i would say we dont have depth like spain but our first four is more dangerous than their first four
———-Vanpersie———-
Elia——Znijder—-Roban
Vs
———Torres———
Ineasta—Villa—-Silva
Physical strengh of torres is the main difference. But i terms of speed and trickery we are head and shoulder above them. But our bench is nothing compared to their bunch(Fabergas =kuyt hmmmmmmmmmmmmm)

Tiju…
Let’s not talk about the strength of the Spanish reserve bench or their second team.
We have got good players(if not fantastic) on our reserve bench as well..
The likes of Dee Zeeuw,Afellay are indeed very good and by no means less talented than the Spanish blokes.(not to mention Elia, who is world-class) :D
And u really can’t say which team’s gonna win and which’s gonna lose based on the so called “strength” of the two squads.Mark my words, this WC is gonna be full of surprises..The team which will be able to hold their nerves, keep their composure and deliver their best for 90 minutes shall be crowned the champions.

Both Ronald-Vlaar and Urby deserve to be called up…
At least, they should be tested in the upcoming friendlies(I think we have one in March against the yanks)..

Tiju: difficult to compare the 2 because villa is not and never has been a creative midfielder. comparing villa ans neijder is like comparing ruud and clarence. they play with one holding midfielder, oranje play with 2. etc, etc. but honestly,i consider this spanish team as strong as hungary54 and oranje74. this might be the main reason why they won’t win the world cup. i know what i talk about because i follow the liga, watch at least 2 games each weekend, actually this is the only one championship i follow. jesus navas, mata, pablo, fabregas, xabi alonso won’t be in their starting eleven and this fact says something about the depth of their squad. oranje has depth as well,i’m not afraid about this. and trust me,my friend, van bommel is world class, has vision and will be extremely motivated.

it’s obvious that vlaar and urby should be tested. i haven’t seen donald yet

@Ferenc: Spain is seriously good. It is the best squad they have ever had. However, my hope is that they do the usual thing and fail when it matters most. The reality is that the Spanish have never played in a WC final, never mind won one. Why start now? The best team does not always win the World Cup as we found out in 1974 (and Hungary 20 years earlier).

PLEASE GUYS STOP COMPARING THE SQUADES !
having the strongest squad doesn’t mean having the strongest team . Never !
the strongest team is the team that is very powerful mentally and all players want to prove them-selves .
this team may be is less than 98 team – as for names , but it’s stronger mentally , and all players have the thirst to prove them-selves , which -i think , is the most important thing .
Marwijk got this point since a long time , he worked on the players’ mentality … How to never underestimate any team , How to be able to finish the game and gain the 3 points , that’s was very clear in the way the oranje played in the qualifications .
Marwijk also worked to have the most homogenous team , he wanted to see each player understanding the other , can expect what exactly his team mate is going to do , that’s why he didn’t change a lot in the team , even in the friendlies , last matches in the qualifications , though oranje guranteed to qualify .

Have you ever asked your-selves this questions :
why croatia reached the semi-final in 98 , winning germany 3-0 in the quarter-finals ?

why did S.korea reached the semi final in 2002 , getting over italy and spain ?

Why did senegal win france in the first match in the wc 2002 ?

Why did turkey reached the semi-final in euro 2008 ?

why did greece won the EC 2004 , getting over france , czech republic and portugal ?

In the confedrations cup ,why did usa win spain ? , egypt win italy ?

i insure you , those teams above weren’t better neither as names nor squades , but they had the thirst to prove them selves , the team spirit .

i get amazed when you guys say we want to collect seven points from our group ! Why don’t we want to gain the all 9 points ? We have to be able to win cameron , denmark and japan , and we can ! And as i mentioned before , cameron have an extreeeemely bad defensive line , may be worse than japan ! really !!
And belive it or not , i think spain , will get kicked out of the wc by ivory coast in the round of 16 !!
@ferenc bro,
you didn’t mention ghana ! They are stronger than nigeria i think

(these questions ) , sorry

@Mohamed: i just answer two of your questions.
south corea’s 4th place in 2002 was the biggest scandal in football history. it started in the group stage against portugal who finished with 9 men. don’t talk about the italy game (totti’s expulsion etc.). spain scored 2 valid goals (morientes). etc, etc. fifa wanted an asian team in the final four. they got it.
apart from brazil usually no great team takes seriously the confederation cup.

if oranje get 6 points against danemark and japan, they don’t need to win against cameroon.
i forgot ghana. they are better than nigeria but for some obscure reason i don’t sympathize with them, don’t like players like essien, muntari…

@ferenc ,
you got me wrong my friend :) , i’m not waiting for answers , i just mean look at these examples . any way , i still totally agree with you , yeah fifa wanted an asian team in the semi-final , but also s.Korea played with a great spirit .
And i still belive ivory coast is going to win spain in the 2nd round !

And don’t forget that South Korean team was coached by a certain Dutchman named Guus Hiddink…

And in classik Guus style, he didn’t do it for free… According to wikipedia: Hiddink also became the first-ever foreigner to be given honorary South Korean citizenship. In addition other rewards soon followed – a private villa in Jeju-do island; free flights for life with Korean Air and Asiana Airlines, and free taxi rides. The World Cup stadium in Gwangju, where South Korea qualified for the semi-finals, was renamed Guus Hiddink Stadium in his honor shortly after the tournament.

So next time you go to Korea, just say you are related to Guus and chances are good things will happen to you :-)

@Finn: if you or me were the coach of south corea in 2002 the team would have played semi final as well. this semi final was the only one time in my life when i supported the german national team.

my wish for the world cup:
1. oranje (obvious)
2. spain (after barca’s second consecutive cl and liga double spain will need to be in the first 3 for xavi’s golden ball)
3. ivory coast (they are in orange jersey and have yaya toure)
4. argentina (the messiah deserves a good world cup,i don’t care about maradona)

i wish bad luck for them:
1. germany (obvious)
2. portugal (more obvious than germany – the only one team in the world where c. ronaldo can be among the sympathetic people – pepe, nani, simao sabrosa, raul meireles…)
3. france (domenech and henry’s handball)
4. england (despite capello’s magic i don’t like at all the always overrated english national team)

Here is my list:

The good guys who wear the big white hat:
1) Oranje
2) Brazil
3) England (Ferenc, I know, we will never agree on this…)
4) Denmark (will never happen, but I love my Scandinavian neighbours)

The bad guys:
1) Italy
2) Germany
3) Argentina (unfortunately not even Messi can make up for the Hand of God idiot)
4) France (Hand of Frog)
