Dutch Manager Bingo

AdvocaatIt seems to me like some of these Dutch Coaches just keep swapping places with each other. Dick Advocaat was manager of the Dutch in the early 90’s, then Gus Hiddink was the manager followed by Frank Rijkaard. Meanwhile Louis van Gaal was coach of Barcelona. After Euro 2000 Frank and Louis switched positions (more or less) with Frank heading to Barcelona and Louis to Amsterdam. Meanwhile, Gus Hiddink was in charge of the South Koreans, and after Louis failed to bring the Dutch to World Cup 2002 he was replaced by none-other-than Dick Advocaat(again) in anticipation for Euro 2004.

Fast forward a year or so and Gus Hiddink was manager at PSV AND Australia while Dick Advocaat had replaced Gus at the South Korean job. Now, Gus his headed out to Russia after the World Cup and Dick is being eyed as a replacement for him as either the PSV manager or else the Australia manager. Did you follow all that? I wonder how long it will be before Frank Rijkaard is thrown back in the mix along with (maybe) Martin Jol of Tottenham Hotspurs….interesting
